NFL 2012-2013 Season Predictions. 2013 NFL Futures Odds to Win Super Bowl XLVII

NFL 2012-2013 Season Predictions with Mark. 2013 NFL Futures Odds to Win Super Bowl XLVII

Interview with Mark D., a professional NHL, NFL and MLB sports expert. He is one of the rare professionals who really DOES know his stuff and he has been winning on public with the Faster Times journal over two years.  We are glad to join forces with Mark after he became an official Zcode Expert to bring the best of the best to the VIP club! Most important Mark really DOES bet on what he says and he wins. That matters the most.

1. Hey Mark. With a fresh NFL season starting it’s a good time to
discuss it and make the predictions!  What do you think of upcoming
NFL season?

It’s exciting.  With the NHL potentially facing a lockout, I’m more excited for football than ever before.  I’ll be at MetLife Stadium on Wednesday night for the season opener between the Giants and Cowboys.  I don’t think there’s a better way to kick off the season than that.

2. I know you are betting every single game on NHL! Do you plan to do
the same on NFL?

I started betting every NHL game because I wrote predictions for each game and was successful betting all my picks.  Some picks are as small as ten dollars.  In my first year writing for The Faster Times, I wrote prediction articles somewhat sporadically and randomly.  It was difficult to follow and frustrating for my readers.  I felt strange making a prediction and not backing it myself, so for every game I made a prediction I also made a bet. We had a very successful first season at The Faster Times, so I saw no reason to change my strategy. Last year, I made my NHL Picks column into a daily publication and continued to bet all my picks.  Hitting between 55% and 60% of the games and varying the bet sizes, we were profitable each month.

In short, this is not a strategy I would recommend – rather it was one born of circumstance.  We were consistent all season – but the playoffs represented the most profitable betting streak of my young career.Football is much more difficult to bet on than hockey as a system.  While hockey is volatile, it is consistent in terms of line movement.  NFL football is the most popular American sport, which causes high betting numbers and lots of action.  Lines move drastically, and since all games are at the end of the week Vegas has more control over where the action goes than in any other sport.  It’s hard to beat the juice and the spread each week.  As such, discretion is key.  I make big bets and I’m fairly selective – I try to stick to teams I know well and even then it can be difficult.  My NFL betting is volatile, but nearly as profitable as baseball – though hockey is my most profitable sport.  With less games and more time between games, football is a whole different animal.

3. You are the only sports capper out there that saw Devils in Stanley
Cup finals and got everything right.. Now, If you had to call a
superbowl contenders right now, what would they be?

The NFL season is a grind.  There are so many injuries and surprises.

If I had to pick, I don’t see anyone taking out the Patriots in the AFC.  I’d like to think the Ravens could give New England a game again, but the Pats look like the best team in the conference again.  Still, New England’s defense is so weak that they can lose to anyone.
In the NFC, there are several elite teams.  The Saints have to deal with not having their coach this season but their offense is incredible. The Falcons are consistent and balanced and should battle with New Orleans to the end – likely taking a Wild Card spot in the process. The NFC North is loaded with the Bears, Packers, and Lions all representing legitimate playoff contenders.  The Giants are the defending champs but the Eagles and Cowboys will give them a run in their own division.  The 49ers came within two fumbled kicks from knocking off the Giants and have a clear path to the postseason.  If I had to pick in the NFC, I trust Aaron Rodgers to weed through an incredibly competitive field.  It’s cliche and boring, but my prediction is probably Packers Vs Patriots…

But I’d like to see the Ravens make it from the AFC, and either the Giants or Cowboys find their way through the NFC again.  As you know, I sometimes make more money betting with my heart than my head (Devils).

4. What are the hottest new rookies and the biggest bubbles of upcoming season?

Trent Richardson is going to start for the Browns, but Cleveland is so terrible he might struggle.  If the offense finds balance, he could have a big year.   Obviously the quarterbacks that will be starting right away (Luck, Weeden, RGIII, Tannehill) have a great opportunity to break out.  Doug Martin in Tampa Bay looks like he might have a shot to have a big season as well.   The skill position guys are always the fun ones to watch, but there were a lot of defensive secondary players and linemen who could make a big difference as well.  It’s going to be interesting to say the least. The biggest bubbles are likely in the races.  The Steelers look like they’ve taken a step back and have running back issues, which could pave the way for a more dynamic Ravens team to steal the division.  The Broncos brought in Peyton Manning and if he’s fully healthy they should contend – but who knows if he’s completely recovered.  The NFC East has three top teams in it and the NFC North is even more talented.  The Saints are suffering from suspensions, but the race with the Atlanta Falcons should be fun to watch.  It’s going to be a tight year with intense playoff races – that’s probably what I’m most excited for.

5. How relevant are preseason results compating to regular season in
your opinion?

Not relevant at all – unless there was a catastrophic injury.

6. What teams would you follow closely in the upcoming season, Mark?

I follow the NFC East.  I hate the Eagles and Redskins.  Tony Romo has been my fantasy quarterback in a big money keeper league for a few years now, so I root for the Cowboys when I can.  My family is a bunch of Giants fans, though, and I do root for the home team being from New Jersey.

7. Lets talk more about Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers.
The Packers put together a record-setting offensive display in 2011
and look poised to pick up right where they left off. If there is
another team worth talking about to challenge them, it looks like it
will be the San Francisco 49ers. A fantastic defense is the motor that
runs this team. What do you think of their chances and the best NFC
team?

I don’t know that any defense is capable of shutting down an Aaron Rodgers offense.  The Niners had an amazing year, but questions about Alex Smith’s ability are legitimate.  The defense is solid, but the offense is a liability.  I don’t know that they can go toe to toe with the Packers.  The Saints might be able to, or a team like the Giants with a great pass rush that can slow down Rodgers a bit.  I don’t trust the Niners and their instability offensively, especially with Frank Gore getting older.   I think the Packers’ greatest competition will come from within their own division.  The Lions have a phenomenal offense and the Bears added Brandon Marshall.  Both teams could give the Packers a run.

8. Thank you! Now lets talk about AFC East : New England Patriots ?
What’s your call? Will New York Jets be a contender?

The Jets didn’t score a touchdown all preseason.  While I don’t read into preseason results, that could be a telling sign as to the dysfunction and disorder of the organization.  The offensive line is in shambles, the quarterback controversy with Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez is dividing them, and the defense is getting old.  I don’t think the Jets are any better than last year’s 8-8 record.  With the Bills getting better and healthier, the Jets could finish third in this division.   I don’t think anyone can touch the Pats.

9. What betting style would you suggest the followers on NFL this
season? Would it be spread betting? Parlays?

I like spread betting, but it’s difficult to beat the juice and line movements consistently.  Vegas knows what they’re doing.  I also bet moneyline wagers when they represent value.  Moneyline parlays are a fun way to dance around the system, but for me they are driven by circumstance and not always profitable in the long-term.  Most professionals will tell you that parlays don’t pay out over a full season.  The moneyline gets pretty brutal in the NFL but it’s best to look at each game individually.  I’m excited for my first season combining my personal strategy and the computer system of Z Code.

Thank you Mark for your time and insight and we’ll see you soon in the

next interview on the hottest NHL season in history!   —  if the season even happens! haha.
