NBA Predictions November 16: Jimmy Butler makes 76ers home debut

We’ve reached mid November and things are heating up in the NBA. With the addition of Jimmy Butler, how high can the 76ers go? We’ll examine the match up against the Jazz, the showdown between Toronto and Boston and several other games. Note that all information is for games played through November 12.

Utah Jazz versus Philadelphia 76ers

In this match up, Jimmy Butler makes his home debut for the Philadelphia 76ers, who will try to push Boston and Toronto in the Atlantic Division. The 76ers hold a +24 to +23 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator, while both teams are in the average range on the Team Strength Oscillator. The 76ers won both meetings between the teams last season and are the sixth most stable team in the NBA. Very tough at home, Philadelphia is 7-0, while Jazz are very good on the road t 5-2. The 76ers will lose a home game eventually, but not in Butler’s debut.

Toronto Raptors versus Boston Celtics

The Raptors enter with the best record in the Eastern Conference, while the Celtics have dropped their last two. Toronto won the first meeting this season between the teams, 113-101. They have a +29 to +23 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and are “burning hot” with their 12-2 start.  Toronto is tied for the most unstable team in the league according to the Team Volatility Oscillator, while the Celtics are among the most stable. Boston is 3-1 at home and the Raptors are 5-1 at home. Home court will help the Celtics, but Toronto is too hot right now and will win in a close, best game of the day.

Miami Heat versus Indiana Pacers

Miami comes in having lost three straight, while the Pacers are fourth in the conference. The Pacers won the first meeting of the season between the teams on November 9 by eight points. They have a +21 to +10 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator, however both teams have been playing less than stellar lately, at “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Indiana is just 3-3 at home and needs to regain home court advantage. The Heat is just what the Pacers need. Look for Indiana to win this one rather easily.

Portland Trailblazers versus Minnesota Timberwolves

Portland has been playing excellent basketball, winners of their last four. They have a +27 to +13 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and won by thirty between these teams in their first meeting of the season.  Minnesota is 5-9 on the season, but are 5-1 at home. Trending in opposite directions, Portland is “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator versus “ice cold down” for Minnesota.  Although the Timberwolves have been strong at home, Portland is among the best teams in the league at the moment and will carry their momentum through this one, in a tight game decided late.

Chicago Bulls versus Milwaukee Bucks

In this Central Division match up, the Bulls have won the last three meetings between the teams. However they come in at 4-10, while the Bucks are cruising at 10-3. Milwaukee holds a +15 to +4 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and are a perfect 6-0 at home. Chicago is among the most unstable teams in the league, so their favorite/underdog status should be considered lightly when picking this game. There is little to indicate the Bulls have much of a shot in this one. Take the Bucks with confidence. It should be an easy win.
