NBA Playoffs Picks: Golden State Warriors at New Orleans Pelicans Game Three

NBA Playoffs Picks: Golden State Warriors at New Orleans Pelicans

New Orleans is a huge sports town. You might think of it as Bourbon Street, Mardi Gras, Hurricanes, and gumbo – maybe a strip club and drinking in the streets – but I think New Orleans Saints games or the sold-out Smoothie King Center giving the New Orleans Pelicans enough of an edge to beat the Spurs in the last game of the season to secure a playoff berth.

The New Orleans Pelicans have given the Warriors a game twice now, and with some energy in the home building they’ll be good to go. As good as Andrew Bogut has been, Anthony Davis is probably the best big man in basketball right now. Jrue Holliday and Tyreke Evans have been banged up, but the guard play should be that much better in Game Three. What’s more – a jumpshooting team will not stay hot all series and the first game on the road is a possibility.

I don’t think the Warriors will be caught by surprise, but I also don’t know if they’re as “historically good” as people say they might be. This is a good jumpshooting team that is subject to big runs by an inferior team. The Pels blew a huge lead in Game Two. I bet they sustain things a little better at home.

I’m taking +7 and a +14 teaser, with the ML for fun.
