NBA Conference Championship Playoffs Predictions: Cavs Warriors
Well, we lost a series bet on the Spurs last round, but we still have done remarkably well this year. In the East, we successfully predicted the Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers. Personally, I would have liked to see a healthy Miami Heat team give LeBron James a run for his money, but with the injury to Chris Bosh this is the best matchup in the East and I’m excited to see how good the Cleveland Cavaliers really are. Can LeBron James really make it to another NBA Finals? Can anyone beat the Golden State Warriors? Out West, I will again be doing the predictable thing and picking the Golden State Warriors to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are playing excellent basketball, but it just does not seem to matter. I’d like to see them push the Warriors a little bit, but I cannot bet against Golden State right now.
Eastern Conference Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers in 5
I agree with some pundits that it might be a mistake to count out the Toronto Raptors before this series begins. Last playoffs, they learned a little bit about themselves. This year, they have shown some resilience and an ability to win with or without their star players. Still, the Cleveland Cavaliers have three superstars looking to end this championship drought. They’re the better team on both sides of the ball. I don’t necessarily think this series will be easy for them, but I do think Cleveland has the advantage and there’s not a team in the East than can stop LeBron James this year.
Western Conference Finals: Golden State Warriors in 5
When healthy, it seems the Golden State Warriors are by far the best team in basketball. The Oklahoma City Thunder just took out what is probably the second best team in basketball. The Thunder have two players who are playing extraordinary basketball. When hot, they seem almost as invincible as the Warriors. I think this is going to be a good series, I just don’t think the Thunder have enough in the tank. I’m going to do what everyone else is doing: Pick the Warriors until they lose.
