NBA Picks November 29: Mavericks versus Suns headlines play

As the calendar soon turns to December, the NBA season approaches the quarter mark. There’s a nice schedule of games in store for Friday, November 29 with two surprise teams heading the list. Take a look at our picks below.

Dallas Mavericks versus Phoenix Suns

Two teams that were near the bottom in the league in the standings are both playing solidly this season. Dallas enters at 11-5 and 5-2 on the road, while the Suns are 8-8 and 5-5 at home. The Mavericks are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +21 on the Power Ranking Indicator. On the flip side, the Suns are “ice cold down” and +15. Both teams have been playing in high scoring games, so betting the over is a smart play. On the Team Volatility Oscillator, both teams are +3, indicating they are relatively consistent according to their favorite/underdog status. This is the first meeting this season between the teams. Give the edge to Dallas and expect a Mavericks’ win in a tight game.

Philadelphia 76ers versus New York Knicks

The Philadelphia 76ers won the first game between the teams this season by a 109-104 score at home. They are 7-0 at home, but just 4-6 on the road. New York has struggled to a 4-15 start and 3-9 at home. The 76ers hold a +23 to + 3 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Philadelphia has a strong defense and both teams have been trending under the line, so best bet according to the Totals Predictor is the under. The 76ers are among the most stable teams in the league at +11 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. Look for them to improve their road record, coming away with a win.

Milwaukee Bucks versus Cleveland Cavaliers

Milwaukee enters with the best record in the Eastern Conference at 14-3 and 8-2 on the road. Cleveland has slumped to a 5-12 start and 3-5 at home. The Bucks won the first meeting of the season by 17 points at home. They have a +28 to +7 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. According to the Totals Predictor, betting the under is a solid play and looking at the Team Volatility Oscillator, both teams are consistently playing according to their favorite/underdog status. There is little to indicate that the Cavaliers can stick with the Bucks for the duration of the game. I pick the Bucks by a comfortable margin.

New Orleans Pelicans versus Oklahoma City Thunder

Oklahoma City won the first meeting between the teams this season by nine points at home. They are 5-4 at home but just 6-10 overall. The Pelicans aren’t fairing well either, just 2-7 on the road and 6-11 for the season. They hold a +13 to +5 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average down” status versus “ice cold up”.  The teams are playing in games trending on opposite sides of the line, so it’s best to avoid the over/under in this one.  As for stability, the Thunder are quite consistently performing according to their favorite/underdog status, a little more than the Pelicans. Likely a slight home favorite, I see Oklahoma City coming out on top in a close battle.

Los Angeles Clippers versus San Antonio Spurs

The Clippers took the first game between the teams this season by a 103-97 score at home. This time they are on the road, where they are just 2-4 for the season, but 13-5 overall. The Spurs are 4-5 at home but six games under .500 overall for the season.  Los Angeles has a +26 to +7 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. The teams are clearly heading in opposite directions, as their “burning hot” and “dead” status indicate. The Team Volatility Oscillator shows that both teams are at +9, showing they play consistently according to their favorite/underdog status. The over/under play is probably one to avoid as the teams are trending on opposite sides of the line. The Clippers will continue to roll to victory.
