The first round of the NBA Playoffs is well underway and there are four games scheduled for May 30. The Mavericks and Clippers headline action with the Mavericks having the chance to dominate the series.
Los Angeles Clippers versus Dallas Mavericks
The Clippers head into Dallas down 0-2 and in a nearly must-win situation. Dallas is “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator versus “ice cold down” for the Clippers. Los Angeles still has the edge on the Power Ranking Indicator at +24 to +16. The Totals Predictor indicates the teams are trending on opposite sides of the “over/under” line. The Scores Predictor gives the edge to the Mavericks by a 104-100 score with 75 percent confidence. I agree with that pick and feel the Clippers will end up in an 0-3 hole after the outcome of this game.
New York Knicks versus Atlanta Hawks
After falling in the first game of the series, the Knicks rebounded to even the series. Now off to Atlanta the Hawks have a +26 to +18 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot down” versus “average up” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Totals Predictor shows both teams trending “under”, but the Scores Predictor shows a high scoring 112-105 outcome in favor of the Hawks with 85 percent confidence. Check the over/under line before placing that bet. As for the outcome, the Hawks should take care of business at home and go up, 2-1.
Phoenix Suns versus Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers lead the series 2-1 and enter Sunday’s game as a 1.384 to 3.400 favorite. They are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +25 on the Power Ranking Indicator versus +27 and “average” for the Suns. The Totals Predictor shows the teams trending on opposite sides of the line and the Scores Predictor gives a 107-104 win for the Lakers with 65 percent confidence. Wait for the over/under line to come out closer to the game, but look for the Lakers to win and take control of the series.
Brooklyn Nets versus Boston Celtics
The Nets head to Boston with a lead in the series and have a +28 to +11 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. In addition, they are “burning hot” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Scores Predictor and a minuscule 108-107 win for the Nets with a confidence of 54 percent. Given that this is a near must-win for the Celtics, it’s not surprising that the margin is so small. I expect the Nets to win by a relatively close margin, but check the line and the over/under closer to tip-off before betting.
