NBA Picks May 2: Nets and Bucks Battle For Position in Eastern Conference

The NBA season is reaching the home stretch and top seeds are yet to be solidified. One matchup that is instrumental in the Eastern Conference is the Nets versus the Bucks. We will take a look at that and other key games for May 2.

Brooklyn Nets versus Milwaukee Bucks

The Nets and Bucks are battling with the Philadelphia 76ers for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn has a +28 to +21 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator, while the Bucks are “burning hot” versus “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The teams have been performing on opposite sides of the over/under line, so it’s best to avoid that bet. Milwaukee has been more stable according to the Team Volatility Oscillator at +22 to +13. The Nets won the last meeting between these teams on January 18 by a score of 125-122.  The Scores Predictor has the Bucks by three points with 85 percent confidence. Go with the Bucks in a tight game.

Portland Trailblazers versus Boston Celtics

Portland is 7th in the Western Conference and the Celtics are 6th in the Eastern Conference. Boston is “burning hot” versus “ice cold down” and has a +14 to +12 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Totals Predictor shows the teams trending on opposite sides of the over/under line. Both teams have been consistently performing according to their favorite/underdog status. The Celtics won the first meeting between the teams this year on April 13 by a score of 116-115.  The scores predictor is seeing the same outcome this time, Celtics by three with 77 percent confidence.

New York Knicks versus Houston Rockets

The Knicks are the hottest team in the NBA and are 4th in the Eastern Conference. The Rockets have the worst record in the NBA. New York has a +22 to 0 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Expect a high-scoring game, so betting “over” is a smart play. Consistency has been present for both teams according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. The Knicks won the previous meeting between the teams by 22 points. It would take a monumental upset for the Rockets to win. The Scores Predictor has the Knicks by a surprisingly low margin of winning by five points with 63 percent confidence. The Knicks will win and I believe by a larger margin than that.

Philadelphia 76ers versus San Antonio Spurs

After a four-game losing streak, the Philadelphia 76ers are back on track and on the heels of the Nets in the Eastern Conference. They have a +21 to +19 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator over the Spurs and “burning hot” versus “ice cold down” status. Philadelphia has been one of the most consistent teams in the league, at +28 compared to +7 for the Spurs on the Team Volatility Oscillator. The 76ers won the first meeting between the teams this year by a score of 134-99. The Scores Predictor has the 76ers by 11 with 56 percent confidence. Bet the under and for a 76ers victory by double-digits.

Toronto Raptors versus Los Angeles Lakers

The Raptors are on the outside looking in for the playoffs and the Lakers are 5th in the Western Conference. Los Angeles is “average” status versus “ice cold up” and has a +16 to  +8 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Back on April 6 the Lakers won against the Raptors by a score of 110-101. The Scores Predictor sees a similar outcome, although by only four points with 78 percent confidence. The Lakers will be favorites and they are extremely stable at +28 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. Pick the Lakers to win and cover.
