As the calendar turns to 2020, the NBA season is nearly at the halfway point. A large slate of games on the schedule for January 4 with the San Antonio Spurs versus Milwaukee Bucks highlighting the list.
Toronto Raptors versus Brooklyn Nets
In this Atlantic Division battle, the second-place Raptors take on the fourth-place Nets. Toronto won the first meeting between the teams this season, 110-102. They are 9-6 on the road and hold a +19 to +16 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Brooklyn is 9-6 at home and “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator versus “average” for Toronto. Both teams are playing in games trending “under” the line according to the Totals Predictor. The Raptors are the more stable team, at +17 to +7 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. Brooklyn can put up a strong fight, but Toronto will prevail in the end.
Indiana Pacers versus Atlanta Hawks
The Pacers come in second in the Central Division and are 7-9 on the road. They take on the last place Hawks in the Southeast Division, who are only 5-12 at home. Indiana is +18 on the Power Ranking Indicator compared to 0 for Atlanta. The Pacers have “average” status on the Team Strength Oscillator compared to “dead up” for the Hawks. Both teams are playing in low scoring games, making the “under” a good bet. Atlanta is performing more consistently with respect to their favorite/underdog status according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. Indiana has taken the first two games between the teams this season and expect the game in this one.
San Antonio Spurs versus Milwaukee Bucks
The Spurs are just 4-10 on the road, but are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. They take their third-place record in the Southwest Division to Milwaukee to take on the NBA’s best, Milwaukee Bucks. Milwaukee is “burning hot” and have a +28 to +16 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Expect a high scoring game, so betting the “over” is a safe bet in this one. The Bucks are the more stable team at +25 to +13 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. The Spurs could hold tough for a time, but the Bucks are too tough and will win this one rather easily in the end.
Charlotte Hornets versus Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks enter play second in the Southwest Division and host the Hornets, currently third in the Southeast Division. Dallas holds a +17 to +4 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average up” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Charlotte has struggled on the road to a 6-12 record and the Mavericks are a 9-7 at home. Expect abundant scoring in this one, so bet the “over”. Note that the Hornets are a bit more stable at +8 to +5 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. They perform more consistently, so take the favorite/underdog status for Dallas more lightly. Dallas has better talent and should come away with a home win.
New Orleans Pelicans versus Sacramento Kings
The Pelicans are last in the Southwest Division and just 5-12 on the road. Sacramento enters 6-9 at home and fourth in the Pacific Division. The teams are heading in opposite directions with the Pelicans holding a +11 to +1 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Best to avoid the “over/under” with teams trending on opposite sides of the line. Sacramento is performing less consistently with respect to their favorite/underdog status according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. Expect the hot trend for the Pelicans to continue and they should earn a road win in this game.
