NBA March 7: Bulls and 76ers Headline Action

The NBA season has surpassed the trade deadline and there is a quarter of the season remaining. Conference races are heating up. There are some key matchups for March 7 with the Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers leading the way.

Chicago Bulls versus Philadelphia 76ers

Two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference battle in Philadelphia. The 76ers enter the contest with a +27 to +21 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The 76ers have been lighting up the scoreboard since the arrival of James Harden, while the Bulls have been involved in games over the line in two of the last six games. The Score Predictor sees this game very even.  Chicago has been extremely stable, at +27 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. The 76ers should be slight home favorites. I like them to win in a game going “over” the line.

Houston Rockets versus Miami Heat

Houston enters play as the worst team in the Western Conference and they face the top team in the Eastern Conference. The Heat is “burning hot” and +25 on the Power Ranking Indicator, while the Rockets are “dead” and 0, respectively. The Score Predictor has Miami by a 117-110 margin with 71 percent confidence. Both of the teams have been involved in three games over the line and three games under the line over their last six. Houston has been extremely stable at +38 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. This is little to indicate the Rockets have a chance. Go with Miami to win and cover, but avoid the “over/under” bet.

Utah Jazz versus Dallas Mavericks

The two teams are battling in the middle of the Western Conference playoff race. The Jazz has a +28 to +24 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator, while both teams are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The teams have been involved in nearly an even number of games going over and under the line over the last six. The Score Predictor has Utah by a single point with 59 percent confidence. Both teams are +24 on the Team Volatility Oscillator, meaning they are consistently performing according to their favorite/underdog status. This game is a toss-up, but I like the Jazz to edge Dallas in a game “over” the line.

Golden State Warriors versus Denver Nuggets

The Warriors enter the game second in the Western Conference and the Nuggets are 7th in the conference. Denver is “burning hot down” and +24 on the Power Ranking Indicator, while Golden State is “dead” and +19, respectively. The Score Predictor has Denver by a 113-108 margin with 53 percent confidence. The teams have combined in games over the line nine times over the last 12 games. The Nuggets are +14 on the Team Volatility Oscillator and the Warriors are +19. I like Denver to take care of home court and win in a game going “over” the line.
