NBA: Can Boston Celtics win 20 straight games?

NBA: Boston Celtics at Oklahoma City Thunder

The Boston Celtics have won 16 straight NBA games. It is an incredible feat, and many NBA experts didn’t feel the Celtics could be a powerhouse after losing Gordon Hayward to injury in Boston’s season opener. Superstar Kyrie Irving has really picked up the slack in Hayward’s absences and the guard is averaging 22.5 points per game.

One bookmaker has calculated that bettors could have made more than $690,000 on the Celtics, if they had bet $100 on the team to win the first game of their 16 game run and continued the bet until now. That is an incredible figure!

What some betting experts have seen is the strength of the NBA’s Eastern Conference. Nine teams are currently over .500 compared to seven in the West. But looking a little deeper, it’s easy to see that the West has more high-profile talent spread out through the conference. We always knew the West’s teams would beat up on each other, while a few elite players would rise to the occasion on the Association’s Eastern side.

NBA number crunchers have projected the Celtics to win 59 games, currently. That figure is the same number the Rockets. Both teams trail the Warriors in project wins, however.

The Celtics will play four games between Wednesday November 22 and Monday November 27 before having a few days off to rest. Boston will start the four games in Miami against the 7-9 Heat. The team returns to Beantown on Friday night for a showdown with the Magic and will immediately leave for Indiana following the game to play Saturday night. Things wind up on Monday back in Boston for Detroit’s arrival at the TD Gardens. Can the Celtics win all four games and make it 20 straight victories?

Boston Celtics score prediction November 22

Miami is just 3-5 at home this season. Meanwhile the Celtics are 9-1. Miami gives up 103.1 ppg. The offense is averaging fewer points per night than the ‘D’ allows . Eight times this year, Miami has been held to fewer than 100 points. Five of those games were losses. Boston is holding opponents to fewer than 95 ppg.

Not only does ZCode System’s Scores Predictor have Boston winning, but it has the team holding Miami to 94 points.

Orlando visits Boston on Friday night. The two teams met back on November 5, and Celtics came away with a 104-88 win. Orlando is only slightly better than its South Florida rival Miami and the Magic have a record of 8-9.

Althought ZCode System’s Scores Predictor hasn’t posted scores for Boston’s games on Friday, Saturday or Monday, it should be easy to see the Celtics as winners against the Magic. But the team’s schedule begins to get more difficult and the congestion of games could lead to losses against Indiana and/or Detroit.

In fact, Boston could get a scare on Saturday and Monday when the team takes on Indiana and Detroit.

On Monday, it will be the first meeting between Boston and Detroit this season. The Pistons are third in the East at 11-6, and average 104 ppg. The Pistons haven’t been great on the road in 2017-18, and Stan Van Gundy’s team has posted just a 4-4 record away from Motor City. However, Boston could get a challenge from Detroit and it could be the end of the team’s win streak.

Running a quick ZCode System’s Playoff Simulator simulation, however, shows the Celtics still aren’t favored to make the NBA Finals. Although the team is winning now, Boston must do a lot more to prove to the experts that it will be the final team standing next summer.
