MLS Match Predictions Thursday June 29th to Sunday July 2nd

MLS Match Predictions June 29th to July 2nd

Major League Soccer has passed the halfway mark as the league’s teams prepare for another weekend of high-octane soccer action. The league will be taking a break on July 8th through July 20th, allowing players to compete in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. With time off upcoming, teams are looking to put themselves in an excellent position for the final months of the regular season.

Let’s look at this weekend’s MLS match predictions.

New York City vs. Minnesota United

New York City host Minnesota United to kickoff the weekend’s action, and the Blues are rolling right along. New York has won three straight matches, two of which were at home. New York City should win on Thursday and Zcode System’s Scores Predictor agrees. New York is predicted to win 3-0.

Real Salt Lake vs. Orlando City

A struggling Orlando City make the trip to Salt Lake on Friday to play a Real team that sits second bottom in the full table. Neither team is scoring goals and RSL is giving them up quite freely (37). RSL is being favored to pick up the win in this match with Zcode System’s Scores Predictor giving RSL a 36.82% likelihood of winning.

Chicago Fire vs. Vancouver Whitecaps

Chicago has been one of MLS’s best teams this season. The club has the second most points in the league to this point (34). Chicago is big favorites on Bet365.com to continue its win streak (4/7), and I agree that the Fire will win its sixth match in seven tries.

Sporting KC vs. Portland Timbers

Sporting KC hasn’t lost in its last four matches, and the team continues to play strong soccer. The Sporting defense has given up the fewest goals in the league (12). Portland has struggled with indifferent form after a hot start to the campaign. This game should be quite tough for both sides, but Sporting should pick up a victory. Zcode System’s Score Predictor agrees and is 56.99% sure Sporting can grab a win.

Montreal Impact vs. DC United

The two worst teams in MLS’s Eastern Conference will do battle in Montreal. Both are coming off of losses last weekend. Bet365 has Montreal to beat DC United at 4/7, and thanks to the team winning its last two home matches. DC United has lost three straight road games, so look for a Montreal win or draw in this affair.

FC Dallas vs. Toronto FC

MLS’s best team, Toronto, heads south to Dallas to play the league’s sixth best soccer club. Dallas hasn’t been great over the last few matches, and hasn’t won since beating Real Salt Lake in early June. Dallas has lost and drawn twice in the build up to this weekend’s fixture, while Toronto has lost just once in its last six games. Despite home team Dallas being favored (21/20 by Bet365.com), don’t be surprised if Toronto gets a point from this match.

Columbus Crew vs. Atlanta United

Neither team is in great form heading into this match despite both winning last weekend. Columbus should get the win, but Atlanta will push them the entire 90 minutes. Atlanta is a free scoring side and has tallied the most goals in MLS (33). The team has lost four of its last five away games, while Columbus has won four of six home games.

Colorado Rapids vs. Houston Dynamo

Underdog Houston travels to Colorado to take on the Rapids in a match that pits the Western Conference’s third place team against the division’s worst team. Although Houston has been very good this season, all seven wins have come at home. The team is winless on the road and should struggle to beat a Colorado side that has been solid at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. I predict a Colorado to win or draw in this one as the Dynamo’s road woes will continue.

San Jose vs. Los Angeles Galaxy

San Jose will debut its new coach Christ Leitch as the team take on the Galaxy in the California Clasico. The Galaxy has won 33 of the 74 all-time meetings between the two clubs. San Jose hasn’t beaten the Galaxy since August of 2015 and has only knocked off Los Angeles 21 times. With a new coach and poor history against LA, don’t expect a San Jose win. Add in LA’s Western Conference leading away record and a Galaxy win should be in the stars.

Philadelphia Union vs. New England Revolution

Both teams find themselves looking at the playoff places from the outside, and neither club has looked too impressive in 2017. Philadelphia won its most recent match, which ended a three game consecutive losing streak. Meanwhile, New England has lost two straight. New England hasn’t won on the road all season, so don’t expect much to change. A Philadelphia win or draw should see the Union overtake its rivals in the standings.
