MLB Predictions: Milwaukee versus Los Angeles Dodgers highlight weekend games

Two weeks into the Major League baseball season and there are some interesting match ups in store. The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers lead their respective divisions in the National League and highlight the games for the weekend of April 12 – 14. Note that all information is for games played through April 8.

Milwaukee Brewers versus Los Angeles Dodgers

The Brewers and Dodgers both have an 8-3 record to start the season. Milwaukee is “average” and the Dodgers are “burning hot down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Los Angeles has a +29 to +26 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. If betting on the “over/under” for the games in this series, the Brewers game have trended “under”, while the Dodgers have trended much “over”. Looking at the pitching match ups, Corbin Barnes, Zach Davies and Jhoulys Chacin are scheduled for the Brewers. Julio Urias and Ross Stripling are scheduled for the Dodgers on Friday and Sunday, with Saturday being undecided. Davies is an excellent bet at +1547 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. Jhoulys Chacin has been a solid bet, but neither Stripling nor Urias has been a good bet for the Dodgers. Neither team will sweep the series and the slight edge for taking the series goes to the Dodgers playing at home.

Philadelphia Phillies versus Miami Marlins

The Phillies are off to an excellent 7-2 start, while the Marlins are struggling at 3-7. This leads to a “burning hot” versus “dead” status and +24 to +6 on the Power Ranking Indicator, both favoring the Phillies. If betting the “over/under”, both teams play games that trend “over” so “over” is a very safe bet for this weekend’s series. Jake Arrieta, Zach Eflin and Vince Velasquez are set to pitch for the Phillies, while Sandy Alcantara, Caleb Smith and Jose Urena are scheduled for the Marlins. Arrieta and Eflin are solid bets for the Phillies according to the Pitcher Profit Oscillator, however Velasquez is at -1321. Smith is the best bet for the Marlins at a +515 profit. The Phillies are the better team and should win the series, despite being on the road. Look for the Marlins to win one of the three games.

Oakland A’s versus Texas Rangers

Oakland has already played 14 games, winning six, while the Rangers have split their first ten games this season. Neither team is trending well with Oakland “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator and Texas “average down”. The Rangers have a +16 to +8 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator, but have been unstable, at -3 on the Team Volatility Oscillator.  Be careful betting according to the Rangers “favorite/underdog” status. Mike Fiers is on the mound for the A’s on Friday and has been an excellent bet at +1588 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. Marco Estrada has also been solid, while Brett Anderson is -530. The Rangers are undecided for Saturday, but schedule Drew Smyly on Friday and Shelby Miller on Sunday. Neither have been a good bet, falling well into the red on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. The A’s are an excellent bet for Friday and Saturday, with Sunday being a toss-up.

Cleveland Indians versus Kansas City Royals

Cleveland and Kansas City are two teams heading in opposite directions. The Indians are 6-3 for the season, +20 on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” status. The Royals are 2-7 for the season, +3 and “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Indians have been one of the most stable teams in the league, which is an excellent indicator to bet on them, being favorites this weekend. Of the six scheduled starters, only Kansas City’s Brad Keller on Friday is a good bet at +346 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator.  If betting the “over/under”, both teams play games that are trending “over”, so “over” is a very safe play. As for who will win the series, I go with the Indians. They could sweep, but the Royals have an edge on Friday.
