MLB Picks June 6: Red Sox and Yankees Clash in AL East Battle

With a third of the MLB schedule in the books, divisional races are heating up. There is a full slate of games scheduled for June 6. We will take a look at five of those games with the Red Sox and Yankees AL East rivalry match-up headlining the action.

Boston Red Sox versus New York Yankees

The Red Sox enter in second-place in the AL East and the Yankees are in third. The Yankees have a +18 to +8 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and the Red Sox are “average” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Garrett Richards is set to pitch for Boston and Domingo German is scheduled to get the ball for the Yankees. Richards is 4-4 on the season and German is 4-5. Both have been good bets at +287 dollars and +970 dollars on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. The teams have been trending under the line and the Scores Predictor favors the Red Sox by a 4-1 score with 66 percent confidence. Go with the Red Sox in a road upset.

Los Angeles Dodgers versus Atlanta Braves

The Dodgers are two games out in the NL West and the Braves are 3.5 games out in the NL East.  Both teams are “ice cold up” on the Team Strength Oscillator and are +5 on the Power Ranking Indicator. Trevor Bauer is scheduled to pitch for the Dodgers and Max Fried will be on the mound for the Braves. Bauer is 6-3 with a 2.24 ERA and Fried is 2-3 with a 5.35 ERA. Despite the great pitching by Bauer, he has been a very poor bet at -676 dollars, while Fried has been excellent at +1833 dollars. The Scores Predictor gives the edge to the Braves at home by a 6-5 score with 69 percent confidence. Betting the over/under is not a smart play in this one. Go with the Braves to win at home.

Tampa Bay Rays versus Texas Rangers

The Rays are 7-3 over their last ten and are on top in the AL East. The Rangers are struggling, sitting at the bottom of the AL West. Tampa Bay has a +16 to 0 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average up” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Tyler Glasnow will pitch for the Rays versus Dan Dunning for the Rangers. Glasnow is 4-2 with a 2.69 ERA and Dunning is 2-4 with a 4.67 ERA. Glasnow has been a solid bet at +311 dollars versus -204 for Dunning. The Scores Predictor shows a blowout in the making by an 11-1 score in favor of the Rays. I agree and the Rays should win convincingly.

Chicago Cubs versus San Francisco Giants

The Cubs come in at +25 on the Power Ranking Indicator versus +15 for the Giants in a battle of two first-place teams.  The Giants are “burning hot” versus “average” for the Cubs on the Team Strength Oscillator. Kyle Hendricks is scheduled to pitch for the Cubs versus Johnny Cueto for the Giants. Hendricks is 6-4 with a 4.62 ERA and Cueto is 4-1 with a 3.45 ERA. The Scores Predictor has the Giants winning by the score of 6-3 with 49 percent confidence. The Totals Predictor leans towards betting “under”. Cueto has been more profitable at +997 dollars versus +283 for Hendricks. The Giants will have enough to win at home, covering the line.

New York Mets versus San Diego Padres

The Mets enter with the top record in the NL East and the Padres are second in the NL West. New York has a +23 to +3 advatnage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Marcus Stroman is set to pitch for the Mets. He will face Chris Paddack for the Padres. Stroman is 4-4 with a 2.66 ERA and Paddack is 2-4 with a 4.24 ERA. Neither pitcher has been a good bet according to the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. Expect a low scoring game with both teams trending “under” the line. In fact, the Scores Predictor has the Mets winning by a 3-2 score with 57 percdent confidence. I will go with the Mets with an upset win on the road.
