MLB Picks: Boston Red Sox at Philadelphia Phillies AB Doubler Progression

The Boston Red Sox lineup is loaded, the Philadelphia Phillies don’t have the pitching to contain them, and even if they did I don’t think they could keep up offensively. Rick Porcello might be something of a liability, but there’s so much value in this line it’s difficult to stay away. I know Boston is on the road, but this should be one of the best teams in the AL vs one of the worst teams in the NL. Further, this should be one of the best teams in baseball against one of the worst.

I was going to walk through an ABC progression, but I’m dropping my Washington Nationals play against the New York Mets because of how poorly they hit. I don’t expect them to snap out of it against two of the best young arms in baseball. Instead, I’m going to do an AB Doubler progression with the Boston Red Sox.

Here, we pursue an “A bet” and because of the value of the line and we’re pretty aggressive. If we lose here, we will evaluate the second game with the intention of making profit beyond our original wager. Many of my colleagues will follow through with a mathematical progression that formulates how much a B bet or C bet will be – but I do not. I’ll look tomorrow at exactly how much we want to make, and base it off this game.

I think Boston is the better team. We’re still waiting on the computer algorithm to catch up because it is still considering spring training games that I believe have no impact on the result of the regular season. I included it for fun, but don’t think it is accurate this early in the season.
