MLB Picks: Atlanta Braves at New York Mets 7/22

MLB Picks and Predictions: Atlanta Braves at New York Mets

In what was once the best rivalry in the National League East through the late 90s, the Braves and Mets have faded into a lukewarm competition in recent years. In part because the Mets have been awful, but also partly due to the fact that the personality and history of the rivalry has gone.

For me, this is a simple no bet in my system. The Braves are the better team by a significant margin, but the Mets are playing much better baseball of late. The Mets are home and have momentum, but without a pitching edge I see no way to support them. Quite simply, this doesn’t fit my parameters.

Z-Code sees some value on the suddenly-hot Mets. The Mets have won Gee’s last two starts, and he’s been excellent at home. Teheran has been mediocre of late, so there is something of a pitching edge for Gee. Additionally, the Mets have been one of the hottest teams in baseball over the last couple weeks.

There’s value, and the five stars indicates that the line is worth investing in given the high likelihood of a close game. Still, in a coin flip game, I think there are better plays to look into.

No bet.
