MLB Picks April 25: Brewers and Cubs Battle in NL Central

There are some great divisional matchups in store for the last weekend in April in MLB. The featured game to watch is the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs.

Note a screenshot of the Scores Predictor below, which is a handy tool when making your picks this week.

Milwaukee Brewers versus Chicago Cubs

In this NL Central battle, the Brewers head into play at +24 on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average up” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Cubs, on the other hand, are +16 and “ice cold down”. Brandon Woodruff is scheduled to pitch for the Brewers and the Cubs haven’t named their starter at this time. Woodruff is 1-0 with a 1.96 ERA. The Totals Predictor indicates a lower scoring game, however, the Scores Predictor shows a 69 percent confidence in an 8-5 win for the Brewers. Both teams have been stable, according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. Look for the Brewers to win and cover in a higher-scoring game.

New York Yankees versus Cleveland Indians

Two teams in the AL meet this weekend in what should be a great match-up. The Yankees are “ice cold down”  at just 6-11 on the season and +5 on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Indians have been solid at 8-8 and are “burning hot” and +22. The Totals Predictor is showing both teams trending “under” and the Scores Predictor has a total of eight runs scored. Betting the “under” is a smart play in this one. Both the Indians and Yankees have been consistent according to their favorite/underdog status. The Indians should be home favorites and the Scores Predictor has them winning by a 5-3 margin with a probability of 68 percent. Go with the Indians.

Washington Nationals versus New York Mets

In this NL East showdown, the surging Mets take on the slumping Nationals. New York is “burning hot” and +23 on the Power Ranking Indicator and the Nationals are “ice cold up” and +14. Taijuan Walker is scheduled to pitch for the Mets and Patrick Corbin is set to get the ball for the Nationals. Walker is 0-1 with a 3.21 ERA and +2085 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. Conversely, Corbin has a 10.95 ERA and is -478 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. There is a huge advantage for the Mets and the Scores Predictor indicates as such with a predicted win for the Mets by a 9-1 score with confidence 65 percent.

Los Angeles Angels versus Houston Astros

The once nearly unbeatable Astros are currently last in the AL West and face the third-place Angels. Los Angeles has a +17 to 0 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average down” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Dylan Bundy is on the mound for the Angels versus Lance McCullers Jr for the Astros. Bundy is 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA and +264 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. McCullers has a 5.27 ERA and is -240 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. With teams trending on opposite sides of the line, it’s best to avoid the “over/under” bet in this one. The Scores Predictor shows the Angels with a win but with less than 50 percent confidence.  Go with the Angels because they have been the hotter team, but be careful with this bet.

San Diego Padres versus Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers are once again the cream of the crop, sitting on top the NL West. They have a +17 to +3 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Dustin May is scheduled to pitch for the Dodgers against Joe Musgrove for the Padres. May is 1-1 with a 2.93 ERA and Musgrove is 2-2 with a 1.04 ERA for the Padres. May has been a much better bet, however, at +303 to -1274 for Musgrove. Despite the low ERA’s, the Scores Predictor has the Dodgers winning by an 8-3 margin. However, this is with less than 50 percent confidence, so take that into consideration. The Dodgers are clearly the top team and I would give with the prediction, bet the Dodgers and the “over”.
