Until there, here is a word about my MLB system in the VIP Club – members only, up almost 1,000 dollars already with small, conservative bets. Here is a lesson on unit size, casual, and personal – a story I shared with our members about my baseball success and personal situation. Cheers.
“I want to make a point about what I think is a very important feature in my system.
Unit size is not some elaborate code or some silly way of writing the portion of my $100 bets that I’ll be placing. It is a money management technique.
The money, right now, that I’m comfortable placing on any given wager is based on a unit size of $100. If you have a larger bankroll than I do, which I’m sure many of you do, then you can use larger units. If you have a smaller bankroll than I do, then you should use a smaller unit size. Unit size should vary for everyone based on money management. It is not just “bet what Mark bets to the exact dollar” unless you are limited by the exact same budget. I exercise proper money management techniques based on the money I isolate for sports investing, and my unit size is as big as a conservative approach and a locked-in bankroll so allow. Right now that’s 100 bucks. This strategy led to almost 4,000 dollars last year in baseball alone. If your unit size was 50 bucks, it would have led to 2,000 dollars. If your unit size was 1,000 dollars, it would have led to 40,000 dollars.
It’s not about following my exact play, it’s about following my play in the way that your bankroll supports to maximize your profits. Don’t simply bet 100 bucks a shot. If you don’t have the money for it, I’ll bankrupt you with a bad week. If you have a larger bankroll, you’re leaving money on the table. I operate with a 1% philosophy that Z-Code laid out. My bankroll has grown over the last eight years and, less expenses and luxuries that come from the fund (because if you don’t spend it on some fun, what’s the point of gambling and sports investing) I’m at around 10,000 dollars isolated and dedicated to sports betting and fun. As such, my unit size, 1% of my bankroll total, is 100 bucks. VERY CONSERVATIVE.
My trip to Vegas two years ago came out of my bankroll (and sports won and blackjack lost, of course haha). My trip to Macao this summer will come from this bankroll. I’m comfortable spending money and trying to keep my bankroll right around 10k. If you’re not, as we win your unit size should increase and fall as we lose. My first bets, when I was a teenager, were five, ten, 25 dollars max… maybe 50 if I was crazy… 100 if it was playoffs and with house money from a good regular season. Now it’s different. You should build it up accordingly, in my mind.
Let me know if you have any questions.”
