How To Use The Wall – One New Guy To Another.

How To Use The Wall – One New Guy To Another.

tipsThis is a copy of a response I posted on the wall to a “New Guy” (Kheang) who
wanted to know how to get started following experts and making trades.
Mike asked me to share it in the forums, so here it is:

Let me give you my experience as a newcomer to the wall
also. I’ve been on Zcode for about a year mainly using
the Sports Trader. When sports shut down this spring I
took some time to explore Zcode and that’s when I found
the wall.

Here are some tools that I find invaluable:

1) The calendar at the top left of the wall. (You can go
back to any previous day to get an expert’s past picks.)

2) While on the wall use the CNTRL key with the F key to
search for an individual expert for that day. The search box
will be at the upper part of the screen.

3) A spreadsheet of some sort to keep records.

4) flashscore.com to get scores (also for past days scores)

5) oddsportal.com to get odds (also past days odds)

Advice from one new guy to another:

1) Keep records. (use a spreadsheet)

2) Back test each expert you’re interested in. (Not just
for results but also for what sports he posts, the time
those posts are put up and if you will be able to place the trade.
And do you have an interest in trading that sport.) I can’t
stress how important back testing is.

3) Paper trade. When you find some experts you’re interested in,
paper trade their trades as they are posted. You need to find out
if you can get those trades placed within the time constraints you
have. There are experts I would like to follow but they are posting
and the games are played when I’m asleep. Also you need to get the
odds as close to what they post as possible. I live in the US so
I’m limited to the bookmakers I can use. Sometimes I have wait for
the game to go live and make the trade as the odds come to my favor.
Sometimes the trade is over before I can get the preferred odds and
I don’t make that trade.

Conclusions:

1) I back tested A LOT!

2) I found three experts that fit my criteria. Then added a fourth.

3) I paper traded for 30 days.

4) The results of paper trading for July were: +48 units

5) The results of real trading for August were: +45 units

Conclusions:
Keep good records.
Back test.
Paper trade.
Stick with the experts you settle on.
Keep working on finding other experts.
Don’t jump from one thing to another.
Don’t place a trade just for action.
Start small and go slow.

The wall works – you just have to put in the work.

If I can be of any help just ask.

Good Luck!
