NHL Picks Contest ($100 Prize): Minnesota Wild at Tampa Bay Lightning

Both of these teams confuse me. To be honest, I’m not all that impressed by the Minnesota Wild. I think they spent a lot of money on Zach Parise and Ryan Suter, don’t have reliable goaltending, and lack the kind of depth usually required by a team with this kind of success. The Tampa Bay Lightning have one of the best weapons in hockey and a legitimate goaltender, but haven’t really filled in the pieces to be consistent. In fact, this year, it looks like they’ve gone backwards a little bit – especially in terms of depth players. Still, at home, with the Wild traveling all the way down to Tampa, this looks like a pretty even matchup to me.

It’s crunch time. Our leader is halfway there while even the next best among us are only at the three-win mark. Hopefully we can close the gap and keep the pressure on as we head for the second half of the contest.

As always, simply comment on this post to participate. Here are our standings so far for the $100 Prize.
