With the NCAA BCS Championship, I’m not betting very aggressively on hockey today. I know I won’t really be watching the games, and I know my attention will be on football. That said, I like this line.

The New York Rangers have played very predictable hockey over their last four games, and we’ve predicted those outcomes successfully four times in a row. Team Contest – Youngsters Team Won! What a great finish by Youngsters! We had incredible great final in team contest! Mustangs and Youngsters created amazing show with big emotions in every single week. Mustangs were very very strong opponent, much better than golas scored by them in last 3 weeks, every result was decided by details and in the end lady luck picked Youngsters for the winners. I really appreciate the difficult conditions that Mustangs put in the final. Remember those names and look how many goals they scored during the season. I don’t know that there’s a rivalry I enjoy more than Flyers Devils. This year, both teams are in a cluttered battle for the third playoff spot in the Metropolitan Division. The Devils have played better of late and are home, but the Flyers are surging into relevance again.

It’s that time again – the best time of the year. Hockey is in full swing, the NBA is rolling along, pitchers and catchers report in a few months, and the NFL playoffs are here to take us to baseball. Throw in some college bowl games (I’ll be at the Sugar Bowl later) and NCAA basketball, and it truly is a wonderful time to be a sports fan. Here are our NFL Playoffs predictions for 2014:

Kansas City Chiefs (+3) over Indianapolis Colts

I know the Chiefs are banged up, but I don’t think the Colts have the weapons to win a playoff game. I recognize that a new commitment to the run has led them past Reggie Wayne’s injury, but I don’t see them moving the ball on KC. Throw in Andy Reid’s offensive game planning, Alex Smiths’ decision making, and the consistency we expect from the Chiefs  ...

Ah, some good ol’ fashioned pond hockey on New Year’s Day. Does it get any better? Maybe slightly better, if the teams were having better years. Either way, this should be a dandy.
