With the NCAA BCS Championship, I’m not betting very aggressively on hockey today. I know I won’t really be watching the games, and I know my attention will be on football. That said, I like this line.

Team Contest – Youngsters Team Won! What a great finish by Youngsters! We had incredible great final in team contest! Mustangs and Youngsters created amazing show with big emotions in every single week. Mustangs were very very strong opponent, much better than golas scored by them in last 3 weeks, every result was decided by details and in the end lady luck picked Youngsters for the winners. I really appreciate the difficult conditions that Mustangs put in the final. Remember those names and look how many goals they scored during the season. NFL Playoffs: First Round Bracket Predictions – Chiefs Bengals Packers Saints

It’s that time again – the best time of the year. Hockey is in full swing, the NBA is rolling along, pitchers and catchers report in a few months, and the NFL playoffs are here to take us to baseball. Throw in some college bowl games (I’ll be at the Sugar Bowl later) and NCAA basketball, and it truly is a wonderful time to be a sports fan. Here are our NFL Playoffs predictions for 2014:

Kansas City Chiefs (+3) over Indianapolis Colts

I know the Chiefs are banged up, but I don’t think the Colts have the weapons to win a playoff game. I recognize that a new commitment to the run has led them past Reggie Wayne’s injury, but I don’t see them moving the ball on KC. Throw in Andy Reid’s offensive game planning, Alex Smiths’ decision making, and the consistency we expect from the Chiefs  ...

Ah, some good ol’ fashioned pond hockey on New Year’s Day. Does it get any better? Maybe slightly better, if the teams were having better years. Either way, this should be a dandy.

Two of the most inconsistent teams in hockey play an outdoor game in front of a national audience. The quality of the ice is tricky, the game tends to be a little sloppy, and the nostalgia is full blown. This should be a fun contest between two Original Six franchises.

Well, we pick the tough ones for our contest and this is no exception. The second game of a home and home between two elite teams poses a difficult choice. With my money, I will not be touching this game. With my contest pick and my heart, I side with the Anaheim Ducks.

The Ducks are the better team, in my opinion. They’ve won ten of 11 games and they’re cruising. They lost in the Shark Tank in the first of these two, but now they come back home  ...

The Detroit Red Wings have been one of the most volatile teams in hockey this year. They lose to teams they should beat, they beat teams they should lose to. It’s tough to trust the Wings right now.

That said, they’re heating up. The Wings have played better in their last few games. Meanwhile, though they pulled off a surprising upset in their last game, the Nashville Predators are really struggling. They don’t have weapons offensively and without Pekka Rinne they’ve been inconsistent defensively.
