MLB Playoffs Bracket: ALCS and NLCS Predictions
What an exciting first round of the 2014 MLB Playoffs. Close games, epic comebacks, and unexpected results. All in all, we didn’t do too bad, but the San Francisco Giants upsetting the Washington Nationals was not something I saw coming. We nailed the Baltimore Orioles dominating their series, and we got the St. Louis Cardinals upset as well. That said, the burning hot Royals have been very impressive and I don’t think anyone predicted a sweep. All in all, we’re up over $1,000 on the season with an average bet around 50 bucks. If we can have a strong finish to the playoffs, this season will be another profitable one. Let’s move on to the seven-game series round.
ALCS
Baltimore Orioles vs Kansas City Royals
I don’t think anyone is giving the Royals a chance, again, and that may prove to be a mistake. While the Orioles are on fire, the Royals have been just as hot. The Orioles are dealing with some injuries, and it wouldn’t shock me if the Royals kept this unexpected run going. That said, O’s and Bohs and Magic, I’m on Baltimore here.
I think the Orioles are the best team left in the playoffs, and picked them to make it to the World Series before this all began. While Kansas City has proven they are never out of a game, I still lean to Baltimore.
Last month this would have been a home run bet for me, but given the upstart Royals’ surprising consistency, I pull back my wager. I like the Orioles, but I’ll leave the house off the table.

NLCS
St Louis Cardinals vs San Francisco Giants
Well, two of the best franchises in the National League do battle for the right to go to yet another World Series. Both teams have a knack for the clutch hit. Both teams have playoff experience. Both teams have solid pitching. Both teams pulled off an upset in the first round.
I didn’t have either of these teams in the World Series, but with the Nats out, here’s where we are. I can’t pick between them. These will be gritty, grinding games and I want nothing to do with them as anything more than a fan.
