The UEFA Champions League group stages kickoff on September 12th with the first match day. With the top club competition ready to go for another season, bookmakers have released odds for this season’s cup winner. Cristiano Ronaldo +500
Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid have won three of the last four UEFA Champions League tournaments. Last year, Ronaldo tallied the most goals in the competition with 12 and with the talent he has around him again the season, there is no reason he can’t score the most goals for the second consecutive year. Lionel Messi is considered the world’s best soccer player. However, he hasn’t had the team around him in the last couple of years to really push for the Champions League title. This season could be different as Barcelona continue to added pieces to the side. Angel Di Maria is set arrive at Barcelona and he should improve the team greatly from wide areas. Messi finished the Champions League behind Ronaldo last season with 11 goals, and topping the charts will only happen if Barcelona can reach the final this year.
Robert Lewandowski +1000
Bayern Munich’s No. 9 comes in a fantastic odds. He finished tied for third last season in goals in the Champions League with eight. Bayern has a lot of players who can score goals, but Lewandowski is the team’s main man. If the team can go further this season than last – Bayern was knocked out by Real Madrid in the quarterfinals – Lewandowski could win the scoring title.
Edison Cavani +1400
Althought Edison Cavani coming in at +1400 seems really strong, the striker should have fewer goal scoring opportunities thanks to new signing Neymar. The new player could score more goals than Cavani, but don’t count the Uruguayan out if you like long shots. He finished tied for third last season with eight goals in the competition.

Neymar’s move from Barcelona to France could be the thing that puts Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Final. The Brazilian has made the team a contender for the tournament’s trophy and he should help PSG to a domestic title in 2017-18. Although Neymar has plenty of potential to score goals in the Champions League, he and Cavani could cancel each other out. While some teams have one top scorer, PSG has two, and they could work against the other to be the top goal man. Neymar finished the competition with the most assists (eight) a year ago; while only scoring four goals.
