NHL Predictions: Can Toronto Maple Leafs continue winning streak?

The NHL season is around 24 games old and a picture is being formed of which teams are playoff contenders. The Toronto Maple Leafs, who haven’t won the Stanley Cup since 1967, currently lead major sportsbooks’ Stanley Cup futures betting odds. Will the Maples Leafs continue their great play on Wednesday night or will the San Jose Sharks bring it to an end?

San Jose Sharks vs. Toronto Maple Leafs The Maple Leafs go into Wednesday night’s game against the San Jose Sharks at odds of +450 to win the Stanley Cup. According to leading bookies, Toronto  ...

Free NHL Picks Contest: Philadelphia Flyers at Florida Panthers

NHL Picks Contest: Philadelphia Flyers at Florida Panthers

Saturday, March 12th

Well, I’ve got a two game lead so I took to the public to let you guys choose the game that I would beat you all with. After three submissions, I picked the game that was the furthest out to let everyone have a chance to put their picks in. The result is the Philadelphia Flyers at the Florida Panthers being what I hope will be the decisive selection.

The Florida Panthers have been slumping lately and are staggering down the stretch, while the Philadelphia Flyers find  ...

NHL Picks: Arizona Coyotes at Florida Panthers

NHL Picks: Arizona Coyotes at Florida Panthers When the Arizona Coyotes were getting scoring from their young players, a lot of the experts in our community were buying in. We, as a website, made a lot of money on the Arizona Coyotes when they went hot. I personally never bought in. In fact, I sort of predicted their demise a little bit and bet against them sharply just before their fall from grace. The results have been very strong.

Now, this young and inconsistent team that tends to be very sloppy is taking on one of the more consistent, young teams  ...

NHL Picks: Detroit Red Wings at Florida Panthers

NHL Picks: Detroit Red Wings at Florida Panthers Historically, the Detroit Red Wings just aren’t the same team on the road as they are when they play in HockeyTown. The Red Wings are an average team this year, flirting with an end to their lengthy playoff streak.

The Florida Panthers have surged to the top record in their division and the second-best record in the Eastern Conference. They have good young skaters (except Jaromir Jagr) and have gotten excellent goaltending. The team is really coming together and they’re streaky. Right now, they are on another winning streak and look sharp.

NHL Picks Contest ($100 Prize): Senators Panthers

NHL Picks Contest ($100 Prize): Ottawa Senators at Florida Panthers

Tuesday, December 8th In this round of our NHL Picks Contest, I’m picking two of the most middle of the pack franchises in hockey doing battle in one of the emptiest stadiums in hockey. The Florida Panthers are a fun team and I really like them. The Ottawa Senators were probably the most fun to watch team in hockey down the stretch last season. Who will win this epic showdown on total median play?

As always, simply comment on this post to participate. Remember, first to ten wins gets the  ...

NHL Picks: Florida Panthers at Detroit Red Wings

NHL Picks: Florida Panthers at Detroit Red Wings I like the Florida Panthers. My greatest hockey memory is probably the double-overtime playoff thriller they hosted against my New Jersey Devils that began their (somewhat) improbable Stanley Cup run a few years ago. They’re young, they’ve got a goalie with personality, and they are on their way up towards sustained mediocrity from the depths of hockey despair a few years ago. You can root for the Florida Panthers, I just won’t be doing it here.

The Detroit Red Wings are the opposite of the upstart Florida Panthers. This is Hockey Town.  ...

NHL Picks: New York Islanders at Florida Panthers

NHL Picks: New York Islanders at Florida Panthers This is far from an easy game but it’s hard to deny the value in a pick ’em line between the New York Islanders and the Florida Panthers. The Panthers are struggling right now while the New York Islanders are poised to be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference this year.

Roberto Luongo makes the Florida Panthers a viable threat. Their young scoring is somewhat dangerous, and they compete. Still, I don’t think theFlorida Panthers should be even money in this one and I see a lot of value on the New York Islanders.

A weak Panthers defensive corps is going to struggle with some of the best scoring in hockey. Speed and skill are the Islanders’ signature the past few season and I think they’ll skate circles around the Panthers and generate a lot of chances. Sure, the Florida Panthers can win this one with goaltending, but I  ...

NHL Picks: Florida Panthers at Anaheim Ducks

NHL Picks: Florida Panthers at Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks are turning their season around. Ignore that incredibly slow start. The Anaheim Ducks have lost to playoff contenders in the Western Conference by one goal before taking out a very good Nashville Predators team. The Florida Panthers have played decent hockey this year, but the Anaheim Ducks should be the class of the West by the end of the season.

Rested, on home ice, and finally starting to look like the team I thought they were before the season started, I love the Anaheim Ducks in this spot. Z-Code public money  ...

NHL Atlantic Division Picks 2015-16: Canadiens, Bruins, Lightning

2015-16 Atlantic Division Predictions: Habs, Bruins, Bolts

Last year, the Boston Bruins collapsed and fell all the way out of playoff contention. The Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning took huge steps forward and dominated the rest of the division in their place. Can the Bruins bounce back? Are the Habs Stanley Cup contenders? Can the Tampa Bay Lightning take the next step? Let’s see.

1. Boston Bruins (103 pts): A value play at +500 and 10:1 long shots to win the Stanley Cup, I’m not sure why people are completely writing off the Boston Bruins. Yes, they fell apart  ...

NHL Picks: New Jersey Devils at Florida Panthers

NHL Picks: New Jersey Devils at Florida Panthers

The best hockey game I’ve ever seen in person was the double-overtime thriller in Florida during the Devils’ most recent Stanley Cup run. Martin Brodeur stood on his head as the Florida Panthers dominated overtime following a late goal to tie it all up. Adam Henrique, who could barely skate his legs were so tried, fired a shot from deep in the slot and the New Jersey Devils advanced from the first round. It was the biggest bet I’ve ever made when combined with the series bets I had laid down.
