WEEK 8: DFS QB, RB, WRs to Target

Week 8 QB, RB, and WRs

Here are my picks for week 8 at the QB, RB, and WR positions:

(prices are Fanduel/Draftkings)

QB

Andy Dalton8100/6000
Phillip Rivers 8500/6600
Matthew Stafford7500/5800
Ryan Tannehill7700/5600
Teddy Bridgewater6900/5100
Andy Dalton is an absolute monster this year and he’s coming off a bye week to play a team that should score about 1000 points. He’s going to be throwing the ball early and throwing it a ton. Furthermore, he has more weapons this year than he’s ever had. The Bengals have struggled running the ball and Giovanni Bernard has truly excelled in the passing game. I love Andy Dalton and for his price I can’t imagine starting him in less than half of my lineups.
Stafford is a viable option if you want to save money on a QB and load up on RBs and WRs. I’m not in love with him, but he’s shown real potential and has a good matchup against the chiefs.
I actually kind of love Teddy Bridgewater for his price. At $5100, we only need him to score about 13 points to be a worthwhile investment. I don’t really see any way he doesn’t do that. I also think he’s totally capable of putting up 20+ with Diggs making the huge plays he has been the last two weeks. Bridgewater has a lower floor and ceiling than a guy like Rivers or Dalton, but at basically the minimum price for a QB I think he vastly outperforms his cost.

RB

Adrian Peterson8900/7400
Chris Johnson7300/4600
Justin Forsett6900/6100
Todd Gurley8100/6300
Doug Martin7500/5500
Charcandrick West6600/4700
Chris Ivory 7700/ 6000
Giovanni Bernard6700/4800
AP is my number 1 high priced target. The Bears have completely dismantled their team in an attempt to rebuild next year. In a vikings offense that now has a deep threat (Diggs) to spread defenders but is still essentially built around AP I expect him to run all over the Bears.
Chris Johnson is my number 1 value pick and will be in almost all if not all of my lineups this week. A winning strategy this year has been to start RBs against the Browns. They are completely incapable of stopping the run and the Cardinals have found more success running the ball with Johnson than ever before. He’s put up big numbers against much more capable opponents. For this price he’s a must add. I will say in Fanduel his value is much lower because his price is significantly higher. I like Forsett more than Johnson there.
Gurley was my number 1 value pick last week and he came through. While his price has gone up by 25%, I think he’s still worth the money.
Charcandrick West is another value player that has a lot of upside. After a dismal first showing two weeks ago, he bounced back and had a great performance last week. The Chiefs leaned on him more than could be expected and he was successful. I like a strong showing again from him this week against a weak Lions run defense, and his price at 4700 on DK is sexy.
Justin Forsett is primed for a huge outing against the Chargers who are the number 31 team against RBs this year. I love his value at 6100. He’ll be in a lot of my lineups
Doug Martin has been on fire this year and the falcons have had a lot of trouble stopping the run. The only issue I have with him is game flow. I’m kind of expecting the falcons to jump ahead early in this one which would have a huge impact on Martin’s usage. However, the titans managed to stay in the game against them for 4 quarters last week. I like Martin at 5500.
Gio Bernard made the list because of his success recently and what I expect from the game flow in this matchup. I expect the Bengals to be passing a lot. I also expect them to be playing from behind a decent portion of the game. I like Bernard to outsnap hill and be an efficient piece in the passing game. He has a low floor high ceiling but for 4800 he might be worth the gamble.
Devonta Freeman is not on my list because he’s simply too expensive and I’m not convinced he will put up the 20+ points he needs to in order to justify adding him. There are other RBs I love at much cheaper prices and I think if you’re going to buy a big ticket RB, Adrian Peterson is the one to be spending on this week.

WR

Antonio Brown8400/7800
AJ Green 8200/7600
Keenan Allen8000/7700
Brandon Marshal8300/7600
Calvin Johnson8600/7900
Jarvis Landry7400/6200
OBJ 8700/8500
Michael Crabtree 5700/4700
John Brown6700/5800
Eric Decker6400/5300
Vincent Jackson (Q)
Stefon Diggs6700/4800
Brandin Cooks 6800/5400
Antonio Brown is my Number 1 high-price receiver and his price isn’t even that high. This is 100% contingent on Big Ben playing though so monitor his status throughout the week. Brown suffered immensely from Big Ben’s absence, but playing at home against the Bengals- a game that is primed to be a shootout- I expect huge numbers from Brown.
Odell can easily have a big game this weekend against a Saints secondary that is full of holes. However, I’m not in love with him because of his huge price tag and Eli Manning’s inconsistency. Furthermore, the Saints have been known to be an unrecognizably different team when playing at home. I think he’s capable of scoring 30 this weekend, but in a cash game format I like more dependable players in the field. He’s more of a risky play than he seems on paper, but if he ends up in your lineup I’m not going to fault you for it.
Brandon Marshall had a solid showing last week which could have been huge but for a couple crucial drops (including one in the end zone). I still like him as the most talented receiver in a jets offense that is more than capable of scoring a lot of points. I have Decker on my list as well because of the huge disparity in their prices. I think the value in Decker is better, but I think Marshall has both a higher floor and ceiling.
AJ green and Andy Dalton have been on fire this week. I expect the bengals to come off their bye week primed for a fast paced shoot out against the Steelers at home. The Bengals have struggled running the ball and have become a pass heavy offense. AJ green can easily have a big game this weekend. I will say, Tyler Eifert is my number 1 TE this week, and I do not recommend starting both Eifert and Green. While theres a chance the bengals put up enough points to give both players a great game, I like picking one of the two in each of my lineups. If you’re going to start Eifert, I’d rather see you pair him with a guy like Brandon Marshall or Antonio Brown.
I love Michael Crabtree’s value this week. Oakland is playing the Jets and you can expect Revis to eat into Amari Cooper’s value significantly. With that said, Crabtree has ben a talented number 2 in Oakland’s offense and I think he takes full advantage of his opportunity to shine.
John Brown had a marginal game last week but he’s shown that he’s an integral part of Carolina’s offense. The Cardinals had a ton of success running the ball last week and I expect them to run even more next. For this reason I do not recommend spending big money on a guy like Larry Fitzgerald. However, at 5800 for a guy who can easily put up 15 and could get 25+ I still like brown.
Stefon Diggs is showing that he has the ability to be consistent. He’s a deep threat and Teddy Bridgewater loves him. I had him on my list last week but didn’t have enough faith to put him in more than one of my lineups (a mistake). His price is still juicy and I love throwing him in a lineup if you spend big elsewhere. Note: his price is much better on DK than FD
I like Brandin Cooks for his price and matchup. The Saints are hot right now and are returning home to play a crucial game against a terrible Giants secondary. I think cooks may be the most talented receiver in the Saints corps, but he’s risky because Drew Brees loves to spread the ball around. Theres a decent chance he has a great game, but there’s also a fair chance some unsung hero like Brandin Coleman emerges for a random 30 point game much like Benjamin Watson’s miracle performance against the Falcons 2 weeks ago. I like his value but I’m not in love with him. I think he’ll get a lot of catches which will offset a mediocre showing, but he’s a risky play for sure.
Vincent Jackson is a strong play if he’s active. Evans had a huge week last week, but he’ll be facing one of the leagues best corners in Desmond Trufant this week and I like Jackson to benefit from that matchup if he plays.
