Super Bowl LV kicks off from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Sunday, February 7 with the Kansas City Chiefs seeking their second straight win in the big game.
The rejuvenated Tampa Bay Buccaneers are aiming to end the growing KC dynasty. Tom Brady has proven that it wasn’t the New England Patriots offensive system that made him successful all of those years in the northeast. He has excelled in his first season in Florida, leading Tampa Bay to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2003.
The Chiefs are seeking to win the Super Bowl for the second straight season, which hasn’t been done since the Patriots — with Brady — did it in 2003 and 2004. This is just the second Super Bowl appearance for the Bucs. They won their previous appearance in 2002 against the Oakland Raiders.
Who is the bookies’ favorite?
The Chiefs go into the game as the bookies’ favorite at -165. The current spread as of Wednesday, February 3 is -3 while the current total is 56, according to Bovada. The Bucs are at odds of +145 with the spread set at +3 and the total the same at 56.
The wildcard could be Brady, who will play in his 10th Super Bowl. It will be just the second time in his career that Brady is the underdog when the Super Bowl kicks off. Brady will set another NFL record when he takes the field on Sunday as he becomes the oldest player to ever play in the Super Bowl.
Why bet on the Bucs?
Not only is Brady at the helm of the Buccaneers, but the team is playing its best football of the season right now. Tampa Ba scored at least 30 points in each of its last six games. Brady and company averaged 35.7 over that span. In comparison, the Chiefs averaged 25 points over the course of their last six games. Tampa Bay scored more regular-season points than the Chiefs with 492. The Chiefs tallied 473.
Keep in mind that Brady was not perfect in the NFC Championship Game. He threw three picks but the Bucs defense had his back, preventing Green Bay from scoring from any of those turnovers.
Why bet on the Chiefs?
The Chiefs are favorite to win thanks in part to having the best quarterback in the NFL currently, Patrick Mahomes. After overcoming a concussion prior to the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills, Mahomes threw three touchdown passes and for 325 yards. Unlike Brady, he didn’t turn the ball over.
Kansas City has been sportsbooks’ favorite to win the Super Bowl since the 2020 season started. Andy Reid’s team are never out of games thanks to its super-powered offense. The defense will need to keep with Tampa Bay’s offensive weapons such as Rob Gronkowski and Mike Evans. It should do the job on Sunday. The Chiefs gave up 22.6 points per game during the regular season. Tampa Bay gave up 22.2 per game.
Who will win Super LV?
Super Bowl LV will showcase two of the NFL’s best offenses. The game should be a high-scoring affair with both quarterbacks doing their parts to win the game. While there will be plenty of football fans backing Brady to win one last Super Bowl, the Chiefs should end the veteran quarterback’s hopes of lifting another Vince Lombardy Trophy.
Mahomes and the Chiefs are too good right now. Kansas City is the new dynasty in the NFL and should achieve a second straight Super Bowl win. Coincidentally, these teams played in November with the Chiefs edging the Bucs 27-24. It was KC’s first win over the Bucs in three tries. After Mahomes leads the team to the trophy, expect him to receive the Super Bowl LV MVP award as well.
