NHL Picks: St. Louis Blues at Arizona Coyotes
I do not trust the Arizona Coyotes. I’ve never liked this organization and I think hockey in the desert has been a tremendous mistake. What’s more, they have never really put together a high caliber roster. Now they have some young pieces in place this year, but without consistent defense and goaltending I don’t think the Coyotes have a shot at remaining competitive down the stretch.
The St. Louis Blues are the opposite of the Coyotes. They have consistency and a strong system. The Blues don’t necessarily have a potent offense, but they create chances with their system. The Arizona Coyotes do not have enough depth to wear down St. Louis in this one.
Both teams are hot, so this is a tricky play. The ‘Yotes have won three of four and the Blues have won four in a row. There is also some conflict in the algorithm, as the computer sees five star value on the dog but gives the Blues a 63% chance to win.
This fits the system in that I have the St. Louis Blues as a much better team overall than the Arizona Coyotes. Some factors make me nervous, though, like the algorithm conflict and the momentum of the home team Coyotes. Still, I’m on it for a low-confidence system play.
