NHL Picks Contest Round Nine: Philadelphia Flyers at New Jersey Devils
As usual, we’ve picked a good one. The line is essentially a coin flip and the computer and I disagree. Tough game to predict.
For me this comes down to goaltending and defense. I think the Devils have the better goalie, I think neither team has much of a defense, and I think the Devils’ depth matches up well with the Flyers’ isolated scoring. At home, I think that’s all they’ll need to win this one.
The computer looks at how hot the Flyers are, but I feel like the Devils could be just as hot. They played the Blackhawks tight until an epic collapse late, and they had the Sabres game stolen from them by the referees. To me, this game shouldn’t have much of a signal, but the Devils have been losing so it gets full underdog value. Makes sense, but I think the Devils find a way to win.
