NHL Featured Game: Pittsburgh Penguins at Toronto Maple Leafs
I think I received the biggest compliment of my career when someone asked earlier this week “do you guys post your picks before or after the game?”. I guess I’ve been doing pretty well lately.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are without their second best scorer in Evgeni Malkin. THe Toronto Maple Leafs have been without their second best scorer all year in Joffrey Lupul. Both teams are in the playoff hunt – the Pens are underachieving while the Leafs are blowing away lukewarm expectations.
With two skilled goaltenders in the midst of excellent seasons, I don’t really like the over six line here. With two explosive offenses capable of scoring six goals on any night, I don’t really like the under six line either. I’m staying away from totals in what could be a volatile game.
With that being said, there is an element of unpredictability here. Two goalies need to stand tall against two incredible offenses. It comes down to which offense and which teams you trust more. At this point in the season, despite their relative success, the Toronto Maple Leafs haven’t earned my trust yet.
Against one of the best teams in the league every year, even at home, I don’t like the Leafs. I’m on the Penguins here, seeing value in the line, Z-Code support, and a roster advantage.
WHat do you think?
