Betting Thursday Night Football: Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens
The Cleveland Browns will be squaring off against the Baltimore Ravens for Thursday night football to kick off week 10 of the 2016 NFL season. Here are Z-Code’s suggestions for betting the game.
The Moneyline is Currently Baltimore -435
Don’t bet this. Sure, I know it feels like a sure thing. The Browns haven’t won a game all season and the Ravens have looked alright. At a line like this, however, there’s no value on a 4-4 team that is in actuality pretty mediocre despite being on top of its division. Cleveland will probably win at least one game this season and, while I don’t think it will necessarily be tomorrow night, I do think it’s possible. I don’t have enough confidence to tell you to take the underdog line at +369 either though.
The Spread is Currently Baltimore -10
This spread is ridiculously high. Granted, Cleveland is terrible and most teams have beaten them by at least 10. However, Cleveland has kept it close in enough games against teams similar to the Ravens that I’m not in love with taking Baltimore against the spread. I also don’t recommend taking underdogs with points unless you believe they will actually win the game. Both teams are 16% against the spread in their last 6 games which is a recipe for nobody knows what will happen. I don’t recommend betting the spread here either.
The Over/Under is Currently 45
I know its Thursday night and its the start of the football weekend and people want to bet the only game in town. So, I try my hardest to avoid positing no-bet games on thursday. I think the only viable wager here is to root for chaos and take the over. There is actual analysis to support this suggestion too. This is a divisional game which always tend to get out of hand. These are the games where terrible offenses score points for glory that no one thought they could. The Ravens have a competent enough offense to absolutely shred Cleveland. Their defense is also competent enough but it has allowed 73 points in the last three games. I’m thinking this game finishes somewhere in the realm of 27-20, Ravens with the potential to really open up. I think Cleveland’s offense is improving and with Corey Coleman back in the mix it has actual potential. The over is a reasonable play in this game and it’s what Z Code and I recommend if you want to bet this Thursday night.
