NFL Playoffs Picks: Green Bay Packers at Washington Redskins
Well, after Adam Jones (Pacman Jones) and the Cincinnati Bengals imploded while an injured Ben Roethlisberger played hero again last night for the Pittsburgh Steelers, we opened the NFL Playoffs 2-0. Sure, we had the spread covered either way, but isn’t it nice to protect a perfect bracket? The NFC is a little trickier, but we’re sticking with our prediction of all four road teams winning and I’ve got the Green Bay Packers over the Washington Redskins as well as the Seattle Seahawks over the Minnesota Vikings.
The Green Bay Packers are hard to trust right now. The line is in shambles, Eddie Lacy is fat, Aaron Rodgers doesn’t have the weapons on the outside, and the defense has never been one to hang your hat on. I do not trust the Green Bay Packers and really don’t expect them to be a contender this year. That said, you can never count Aaron Rodgers out. Honestly, I simply cannot bring myself to trust Kirk Cousins and the Washington Redskins to win as favorites over the visiting Packers, even with the obvious holes on this team.
Green Bay was obliterated by the blitz over the past few weeks. The Washington Redskins will surely take advantage of the injuries and weaknesses of the Green Bay Packers offensive line. I do not expect Aaron Rodgers to have time, nor do I expect the running game to finally get going on the road.
Still, I think with some time to adjust and a weaker opponent will allow the Green Bay Packers to create some time. Screens, draws, and simple passing plays will allow Rodgers some time. Sure, the deep ball hasn’t worked this year and the Redskins are hot, but this is not a good Washington team.
We’re betting a game with limited computer signal and decent public money for the NFL playoffs, but I think the Green Bay Packers will find a way in this one.
