NFL Picks Week 8: Buccaneers and Saints Battle in NFC South

The NFL season has reached the halfway point and divisional and conference races are heating up. There is a full slate of games for this weekend with the Buccaneers at the Saints the featured matchup.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers versus New Orleans Saints

In the NFC South battle, the Buccaneers enter with a 6-1 record and face the 4-2 Saints. Both teams are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and Tampa Bay has a +29 to +18 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Tampa Bay is a 5.5-point favorite with odds of 1.410 to 2.868 with an over/under of 50.5. The Totals Predictor shows that the teams are trending in games on opposite sides of the line. The Score Predictor has the Buccaneers winning by the score of 31-20 with 66 percent confidence. Note that the Buccaneers have been more stable, coming in at +6 to -2 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Buccaneers to win and cover but avoid the over/under.

Pittsburgh Steelers versus Cleveland Browns

In this classic AFC North battle, the 4-3 Browns host the 3-3 Steelers. Cleveland is “average up” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +14 on the Power Ranking Indicator. Pittsburgh is “burning hot” and +10, respectively. The Browns are a 3.5-point home favorite with odds of 1.510 to 2.542 with an over/under of 42.5. The Score Predictor has the Browns with the narrowest of margins, 25-24 with 64 percent confidence. The Totals Predictor indicates that the teams are trending in games on opposite sides of the line. Pittsburgh has been relatively unstable at -1 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Steelers to cover in a game going “over”.

Tennessee Titans versus Indianapolis Colts

Both teams enter play in the AFC South clash with “burning hot” status on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Titans have a +25 to +8 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Indianapolis is a 2.5-point home favorite with odds of 1.750 to 2.050 with an over/under of 50.5. The Score Predictor has the Titans winning by a 34-25 margin with 48 percent confidence. The Totals Predictor is in line with a high-scoring game since both teams have been involved in games trending “over”.  Tennessee has been very inconsistent with regards to their favorite/underdog status, while the Colts have been very consistent. I like the Colts to cover, betting “over”.

Dallas Cowboys versus Minnesota Vikings

Dallas has won their last five and the Vikings have won their last two. Both teams are “burning hot” and Dallas has a +25 to +9 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Cowboys are a 2.5-point road favorite with odds 1.8 to 2 and an over/under of 55.5. The Score Predictor has the Cowboys winning in blowout fashion, 29-12 with 62 percent confidence. The Totals Predictor shows both teams trending in games “over” the line. Note also both teams are showing high stability on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Cowboys to win and cover, but avoid the over/under bet.

New England Patriots versus Los Angeles Chargers

The Patriots head to Los Angeles with a 3-4 record to take on the 4-3 Chargers. Both teams have “average” status, but the Chargers have a large edge of +29 to +7 on the Power Ranking Indicator. Los Angeles is a solid 4.5-point favorite with odds of 1.410 to 2.868 and an over/under of 48.6 The Score Predictor has the Chargers winning by the score of 35-16 with 73 percent confidence. The Totals Predictor indicates both teams are trending in lower-scoring games. New England is +3 on the Team Volatility Oscillator, indicating a stable team. I like the Chargers to win and cover, but in a lower-scoring game. Place a bet on the “under”.
