The NFL season has reached the 5th week, and only two teams remain undefeated. One of those is the Buffalo Bills, who face off against the New England Patriots in one of our four featured matchups. Our game of the week is the Los Angeles Chargers hosting the Washington Commanders.
Washington Commanders versus Los Angeles Chargers
The Commanders come in “ice cold down” after dropping two of their last three. The Chargers are “average down” after winning their first three and dropping last week’s contest. The Chargers are a 2.5-point home favorite with odds of 1.620 to 2.250 with an over/under of 47.5. Betting the under is a 5-star pick at 92 percent. Los Angeles is +25 to +9 on the Power Ranks Indicator while Washington is +3 to 0 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. The teams are nearly deadlocked in terms of scoring differential. The Chargers have a big home-field advantage, sitting 2-0 at home, while the Commanders are 0-2 on the road. I think the Commanders’ struggles continue. I’m going with the Chargers in a game “over” the line.
Houston Texans versus Baltimore Ravens
Both teams are struggling to a 1-3 record in the early part of the season. Houston is a 1.5-point road favorite with odds of 1.730 to 2.100 with an over/under of 40.5. Houston is “average” versus “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +10 to +5 on the Power Ranks Indicator. The teams are trending on opposite sides of the line with 67 percent chance of going over. Houston has been the more stable team at +1 to -1 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. The Ravens are -2 in scoring differential, while the Texans are +13. The Ravens won in a blowout last year on Christmas Day. I like the tide to change in this one, in a game “over” the line.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers versus Seattle Seahawks
Seattle comes in 3-1 and “burning hot” while the Buccaneers are also 3-1 after suffering their first loss last week versus the Eagles. Seattle is a 3.5-point home favorite with odds of 1.570 to 2.380 with an over/under of 45.5. The teams are trending in games “over” the line, and betting the over is a 5-star pick at 88 percent chance. The Seahawks are +26 to +20 on the Power Ranks Indicator. The Buccaneers are more consistently performing in accordance with their favorite/underdog status. Seattle has a large scoring differential edge of +44 to 0. I like Seattle in a game “over” the line.
New England Patriots versus Buffalo Bills
In this AFC East battle, the Patriots come in 2-2 against the undefeated Bills. Buffalo is a 8.5-point favorite with odds of 1.250 to 3.750 with an over/under of 49.5. The teams are trending in games “over” with the “over” a 5-star bet at 90 percent. The Bills have won their last five as a favorite and have a +30 to +16 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. The Bills are the more consistent team at +3 to 0 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. Buffalo has a scoring differential edge of +43 to +21. The teams split the meetings between them last year. I like the Bills by double digits in a game “over” the line.
