The NFL is quickly approaching the middle of the 2020 season. There are only a handful of unbeaten teams remaining. The Steelers and Titans are two of them and face off for the featured match up of the week. We will take a look at four other games scheduled.
Pittsburgh Steelers versus Tennessee Titans
Both teams enter at 5-0 and are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Steelers have a narrow +29 to +28 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Pittsburgh is a road favorite at 1.75 to 2.10 odds with an over/under of 51.5. Both teams are showing great consistency, meaning they are winning as favorites and losing as underdogs. I see that trend continuing with a narrow Pittsburgh victory.
Carolina Panthers versus New Orleans Saints
Both teams enter at 3-3, a game behind Tampa Bay in the NFC South. The Saints are a large 1.3 to 3.66 favorite with an over/under of 51. The Panthers have a +18 to +16 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator, but the Saints are “burning hot” compared to “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Expect a high scoring game according to the Totals Predictor, making the “over” a good bet. According to the Team Volatility Oscillator, the Saints have been the much more stable team. They have also won both meetings between the teams last season. I expect that pattern to continue in a relatively easy win for the Saints.
Green Bay Packers versus Houston Texans
The Packers are 4-1 and coming off a blowout loss to the Buccaneers, while the Texans are limping in at 1-5. Green Bay is a 1.51 to 2.59 favorite with an over/under of 56.5. Despite that high number, the teams have been consistently playing in games “over”, which is the best bet. The Packers have a +30 to +7 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Houston has been the more consistent team and that will continue. They will go down to defeat as a home underdog in a game that won’t be close.
San Francisco 49ers versus New England Patriots
The 49ers enter New England with a .500 record and the Patriots are below .500 at 2-3. Nevertheless, the Patriots are a 1.72 to 2.13 home favorite with an over/under of 45.5 Expect the teams to outscore that number according to the Totals Predictor. The Patriots have a narrow +12 to +11 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. San Francisco is “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator and the Patriots are “dead”. The 49ers have been inconsistent, so take their favorite/underdog status lightly. The feeling is that the Patriots will find a way to win to avoid dropping two games under the .500 mark.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers versus Las Vegas Raiders
Tampa Bay is riding high after a 38-10 win over the Green Bay Packers. They are +17 on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average up” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Raiders are 3-2, +10 and “ice cold up”. The Buccaneers are a 1.67 to 2.223 favorite with an over/under of 53.5 The Totals Predictor indicates that avoiding betting the over/under may be the most wise choice. The Buccaneers have been more consistently performing according to their favorite/underdog status. They have been on a roll and expect that to continue on the road against the Raiders.
