NFL Picks: New York Jets at Dallas Cowboys (+3)

NFL Picks: New York Jets at Dallas Cowboys

I feel validated. As an unabashed Tony Romo fan, I have enjoyed every moment of the Dallas Cowboys’ epic collapse to the bottom of a horrible division while he’s been injured. There is little doubt that the Cowboys would be atop the NFC East if Romo had stayed healthy. It’s like telling your friends in high school that the band geek in the glasses is actually about to be a bombshell. Tony Romo, my Disney-era Ariana Grande, never looked like much until the team imploded without him.

A wager here turns on whether or not you trust the New York Jets. I don’t, and as such my forum is off this one. On the road, this is a trickier game than it looks like at first glance. I know the New York Jets have had a good season and there’s little reason to doubt them against the lowly Cowboys, but offensively I’m just not impressed. Brandon Marshall is a monster, but he’s not a clutch top receiver. Chris Ivory is starting to look a little banged up. The quarterback situation has never blown me away, and the Dallas Cowboys defense is legitimate.

So, if you can dare to do so on the road, the New York Jets seem like the obvious pick. Still, with 87% of public money coming in on the money line and the spread, Vegas is making a very big bet on the Dallas Cowboys with the full field goal. On National Television on the Saturday Night Football game, it’s wise not to bet a New York, Wall Street Money, short-week trap game.

I’m off this one, but with 59% chance for the Jets to win and a 57% chance the Cowboys cover the spread, 87% of the public money coming in on the Jets on both the spread and the money line, I like Cowboys +3 for public money figures alone.
