NFL Picks: Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans
The Jacksonville Jaguars are building towards something. T.J. Yeldon might be the running back of the future, they have two stud receivers, a great tight end, and Blake Bortles had a solid season in his second year. The skill positions in Jacksonville finally have some recognizable names, but the defense has a lot of holes and I don’t trust either line.
That’s a big problem for a young team going against the Houston Texans defense with a chance to clinch a playoff berth with a win. Sure, the Indianapolis Colts need a lot of luck (pun intended) to get into the playoffs, but stranger things have certainly happened. Houston can take care of business at home against a weaker team and surge into the playoffs with some momentum and dignity. At home, I think they win.
Six points might be a lot if Jacksonville can keep this one close, so I’m teasing it down to a money line play. The computer agrees, giving the Jags a strong chance to cover but also picking the Houston Texans to win with 69% confidence. That’s a strong enough signal for me to bite here.
With the playoffs on the line and a hungry home crowd against an inconsistent Jacksonville Jaguars team, I think the Houston Texans will show up here in a big way and win their way into the playoffs. Nobody wants to back their way in.
