NFL Picks and Predictions: Thursday Night Football – Kansas City Chiefs at Philadelphia Eagles
In a game with almost no Z-Code signal, I thought it would be fun to bring back one of my favorite forms of analysis – the bullet point organization of a tricky game. Unfortunately, I still can’t come to a decision. Let’s check out why:
1. Thursday Night Football always favors the home team. With less time to prepare, road teams historically have some serious difficulty adjusting to the short week with travel. Beware road teams on Thursdays! It’s a DEFINITE trend.
2. Both the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs are a mystery. The Chiefs have a new QB and new pieces, the Eagles have a new coach and dynamic offensive system. If you think you know these teams, I’m not sure you do. I certainly don’t.
3. The Eagles offense seems to be figured out in the second halves of games. A proper scouting report might help ease the transition for a team. The Eagles jump on people, then teams adjust… the Redskins figured it out late and the Chargers beat it. Is this just a gimmick? Can the Chiefs shut them down like they did against the Cowboys?
4. Do you want to be the over when it’s jacked up because of the Eagles’ no huddle nonsense after the Chiefs only scored 17 against the Cowboys?
5. Is three points enough with such dynamic and thoroughly inconsistent offenses? Is there value?
Given the tight spread, the trendiness of the Chiefs, the unpredictability of both revamped teams, and the total lack of z-code support and value in my analysis… I’m off it.
I might tease Chiefs and Over if I get bored though… and maybe the points if I’m feeling reckless!
