NFL Divisional Playoffs: Will the Colts remain hot and take down the Chiefs?

The NFL Playoffs have reached the Divisional Round and two number six seeds remain. Can the Colts take down the Chiefs and do the Eagles have enough to keep their hope alive of a repeat? Dallas versus Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers versus New England Patriots are also on tap.

Indianapolis Colts versus Kansas City Chiefs

The Colts enter play coming off a 21-7 win over the Titans. After a 1-5 start, they have won ten of their last eleven. Indianapolis is “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +23 on the Power Ranking Indicator. Kansas City was 12-4 during the regular season, but have lost three of their last six games. They are “average” status and also +23 on the Power Ranking Indicator. Favorites by 5 1/2 points, the Chiefs have a 54 percent chance of winning. Kansas City is the more stable of the teams, according to the Team Volatility Oscillator, which leans the pick towards the Chiefs. The Colts have enough to remain within striking distance for a possible upset late. Go with the Chiefs to narrowly escape with a win and the Colts to cover.

Philadelphia Eagles versus New Orleans Saints

After a 4-6 start, the Eagles have won six of their last seven, including four in a row, three against playoff teams. Their 16-15 miracle win over the Bears puts them up against the top seeded Saints. New Orleans wiped out the Eagles 48-7 last meeting, but the Eagles are clearly a different, more confident team this time around. The Saints have a +31 to +22 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator, but are just “average” versus “burning hot” for the Eagles. The line is currently at 8 in favor of the Saints, who have an 80 percent chance of winning. It’s difficult to pick against the Saints at home, but the Eagles can never be counted out. The defending Super Bowl Champions wont go down easy, but they likely will fall. Don’t be surprised if the Eagles cover.

Los Angeles Chargers versus New England Patriots

New England enters as the number two seed and are a four point favorite over the Chargers, who are coming off a win over the Ravens in the Wild Card round. Both teams are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and the Patriots hold a slim edge (+25 to +23) on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Patriots are also the more stable of the two teams at +6 versus +2 and have a 61 percent chance of victory, according to our VIP Picks section of the site. It’s extremely difficult to see Brady losing at home in the post season, so the pick has to be for the Patriots minus the points.

Dallas Cowboys versus Los Angeles Rams

The Cowboys have done very well to get to the Divisional Round, overcoming a 3-5 start to win the NFC East. However, they face a tough opponent on the road in the number two seeded Rams. Los Angeles is an 8 1/2 point favorite and hold a +29 to +28 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Both teams are “burning hot” , however the Cowboys have been mediocre at best on the road this season.  The Rams are by far the more stable of the two teams and have a 71 percent chance of victory in this one. Go for the Rams to win and likely win by double digits.
