NFL Week 2 DFS Picks by Position
Quarterbacks:
Eli Manning 8100
Eli Manning was one of my picks last week and he had a decent showing throwing for 207 with 3 tds and an interception. Eli has genuine weapons surrounding him this year with the rebound of Victor Cruz and the emergence of rookie Sterling Shepard. Furthermore, pass-catching specialist, Shane Vereen will get his fair share of catches from the backfield. This week Eli has the New Orleans Saints at home and is poised to absolutely shred that defense. The Saints are one of the worst defenses in football but also have one of the best offenses in football. This game is the perfect storm for a high scoring shootout that means big points for all involved.
Matt Stafford 7800
As I predicted, Matt Stafford had a big game last week and had a juicy matchup against the Titans at home. I think Stafford’s value lies mainly in his weapons and the fact that the Lions don’t seem like they’re going to be running the ball much this season. Both running backs, Abdullah and Riddick, are immensely talented but got most of their work done in the passing game last week. I expect a strong showing from Stafford here and think his floor is hight but his ceiling is limited in a game where Tennessee likely won’t but up much of a fight.
Running Backs:
Cj Anderson 7800
CJ Anderson is one of the few 3-down running backs in the NFL. The volume of touches he will get alone will justify him as a consideration. This week he has a decent matchup against the colts at home. The Broncos showed in week one that they are now a run-first team. At this price tag CJ doesn’t have to be amazing, but he can easily be the number 1 RB this week.
Latavius Murray 7100
Latavius Murray is a solid RB with a juicy matchup against the falcons. There aren’t a ton of great RB matchups this week so Murray is a good value play if you can afford him.
Rashad Jennings 6300
Rashad Jennings is a mediocre running back with an uncontested workload on downs 1 and 2 who has an amazing matchup against the saints. His production will likely be governed by gameflow- in a shootout situation he may not perform as well. However, I don’t think theres much of a chance that the Saints break out a big lead early so I expect Jennings to be used throughout all 4 quarters. He has a lot of opportunity here and that combined with a low price tag is DFS gold.
Danny Woodhead 6400
The Chargers lost Keenan Allen last week and there are only two players who will benefit from it- Danny Woodhead and Antonio Gates. Woodhead will be relied on even more than he already was in the passing game. Especially in PPR formats like fanduel, Woodhead will be a target-machine. He’s GREAT value here.
Theo Riddick 5900
Theo Riddick was one of the top RBs last week and is still going for less than 6k. He’s a PPR monster and can easily break out a huge game against a weak titans team. He has massive upside and a high enough floor to roll him out.
Wide Receivers:
Obj 9400
Beckham is a top tier WR with a sexy matchup. Find a way to afford him.
Aj green 8900
AJ green showed last week that he is essentially unguardable. If you can stay cheap with the value RBs I listed, you may be able to afford both him and OBJ.
Emmanuel Sanders 6700
In a week where D. Thomas will not be 100% and against a Colts secondary that is playing on a 3rd grade level, Emmanuel Sanders is a solid pick. There’s a decent chance that the Broncos are going to have to keep up offensively and that Osweiller will have to throw the ball more than he wants to. I think Sanders will be the WR who shines if that happens. He’s not a sure thing but his price tag gives us wiggle room to take the risk.
Willie snead 7200
Snead will get his share of targets in what could be a shootout against the Giants. He’s a cheaper Brandin Cooks who could easily be the number 1 WR for the Saints. HUGE value here, he will be in most of my lineups.
Mohamed sanu 6700
Julio Jones is not 100% and Sanu showed in week one that he can be an asset to Matt Ryan. Against a raiders defense that allowed huge fantasy production from two Saints receivers, theres no reason to believe that Sanu can’t get his share regardless of how many catches Julio has.
Tight Ends:
Antonio gates 5900
I mentioned Gates earlier when talking about Danny Woodhead. I think Rivers will be leaning on both players heavily. At 5900 gates is a steal.
Jason Witten 5900
Is the number one targeted receiver on the Dallas cowboys worth 5900 to you? He should be. Rookie QBs LOVE tight ends and Dak Prescott is no exception. He will be leaning on Witten all year and until his price tag rises we will be too.
DST:
Pats 4500
Great matchup against a team that barely scored against Seattle.
Ravens 4500
There will be turnovers in this game.
