NBA Picks November 15: Indiana versus Houston headlines action

Three weeks into the NBA season and the cream is already rising to the top. There are several interesting games set for Friday, November 15. The featured game is the Indiana Pacers versus the Houston Rockets.

Indiana Pacers versus Houston Rockets

Indiana is off to a 6-4 start, good for sixth in the Eastern Conference. At 2-3 on the road they travel to Houston to face the 7-3 Rockets, who are third in the Western Conference. Both teams are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and the Rockets have a +20 to +18 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Best to avoid the over/under in this one since teams are trending on opposite sides of the line. Indiana has been very unstable at -2 in the Team Volatility Oscillator, so be careful when considering their favorite/underdog status.  On the flip side, the Rockets have been quite consistent winning three of four at home and took both meetings between the teams last season. Go with the Rockets to improve to 8-3 on the season.

San Antonio Spurs versus Orlando Magic

The Spurs are off to a 5-5 start and 1-2 on the road. They head to Orlando to take on the Magic, who are 3-7 this season and 3-3 at home. Both teams are struggling at the moment, the Spurs are “ice cold down” and the Magic are “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. San Antonio has a +13 to +8 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. If considering betting the over/under, best to stay away from in this one according to the Totals Predictor. Last season the teams split the meeting, both teams winning on the road. I believe that trend will continue and pick the Spurs to take this one.

Philadelphia 76ers versus Oklahoma City Thunder

The Philadelphia 76ers recently snapped a three-game skid and are 6-3 on the season. They take their 3-3 road record to Oklahoma City to face the 4-5 Thunder, who are 4-3 at home. Both teams have been playing in lower scoring games, so best to bet the “under” in this one. The 76ers are “average” versus “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and hold a +20 to +12 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Last season, both teams won a game in the series. The 76ers should have Ben Simmons back in the lineup, which could make the difference. Go with Philadelphia by a slim margin, perhaps in overtime.

Boston Celtics versus Golden State Warriors

A surprise Boston team leads the Eastern Conference with an 8-1 record. They are 4-1 on the road and face a struggling Golden State team that is 2-9 on the season. The Warriors are without Klay Thompson and Steph Curry. Best to forego the over/under in this game since teams are trending on opposite sides of the line. Boston is “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator versus “dead” for the Warriors and +29 versus +1 on the Power Ranking Indicator. Both teams are showing stability early going according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. The two games between the teams were split last season and look for Boston to win on the road here to further Golden State’s woes.

Sacramento Kings versus Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers are off to the hot start that most anticipated with LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the same lineup. They are 7-2 and 4-1 at home this season. Last year they took three of four from the Kings, who enter play at 3-6 and 2-3 on the road. Los Angeles holds a commanding +29 to +3 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot down” versus “average” status. The Lakers are the more stable of the two teams, performing more consistently according to their favorite/underdog status. When considering the over/under, it’s best to avoid in this game. As for the outcome, the Lakers are too strong and tough to beat at home. The Lakers will win, perhaps by double digits.
