NBA Picks December 22: Nuggets host Jazz in featured game

The NBA regular season is nearly one-third complete as the end of the 2025 calendar year approaches. There is a fairly light schedule of seven games for December 22, with the Denver Nuggets hosting the Utah Jazz in the headlined matchup.

Utah Jazz versus Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets come in with the second-best record in the Western Conference, while the Jazz 12th at 10-16. Denver is “burning hot” versus “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +27 to +9 on the Power Ranks Indicator. The teams are trending in games “over” the line with a predicted point total of 244 with 83 percent confidence. Denver is 8-4 at home, and Utah is a mere 3-8 on the road. The Nuggets have a +9.4 to -7.2 scoring differential advantage. Both teams have been consistent regarding their favorite/underdog status. I like Denver to win by double digits in a game “over” the line.

Indiana Pacers versus Boston Celtics

Boston is 4th in the Eastern Conference, and the Pacers are second from the bottom.  The Celtics are 4-2 and “average” over the last six, while the Pacers are 2-4 and “ice cold down” during the same stretch. The teams are trending on opposite sides of the “over/under” line with a total prediction of 231 points with 82 percent confidence. Boston is 8-5 at home, and Indiana has only one win in 12 tries on the road. Boston has a huge scoring differential edge of +5.4 to -7.8. This is the first game between the teams this season and screams Boston. I like the Celtics to win by double-digits, but pass on the over/under bet.

Memphis Grizzlies versus Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder have dominated this season with a 25-2 record, while the Grizzlies are sitting a game under .500 at 13-14. Both teams are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator after going a combined 9-3 over the last 12. Oklahoma City is +27 to +18 on the Power Ranks Indicator.  The teams have been involved in an equal number of games over and under the line over the last 12. Oklahoma City has an incredible point differential of +16.9 compared to -0.8 for Memphis. The Thunder is a perfect 13-0 at home this season. They will lose at some point, but it won’t be in this one. Oklahoma City will cruise by double-digits in a game “over” the line.

Orlando Magic versus Golden State Warriors

Both teams are in the middle of the playoff hunt, with the Magic 6th in the Eastern Conference and the Warriors 9th in the Western Conference. Both teams have struggled to 2-4 over the last six and “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Interestingly enough, both teams have also been involved in games “under” the line in four of the last six.  The teams are very evenly matched with a mere 2.2 point differential in favor of the Magic.  The Warriors are 7-4 at home, while Orlando is 5-8 on the road.  Both teams are moderately stable according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Warriors simply because they are at home in a game “under” the line.
