NBA Picks and Predictions, Wednesday Nov 7th: Lakers at Jazz

NBA Featured Game – Wednesday, November 7th: Los Angeles Lakers at Utah Jazz; Will the Lakers Snap out of it?

We’re unbeaten on our daily featured games since the NBA season opened up (5-0). We hit on the spread and moneyline last night, when the Oklahoma City Thunder blew away the Toronto Raptors, coming quite close to our predicted 112-90 score. We suggested a few parlays and teasers last night and they all hit, taking advantage of lopsided NBA matchups. The VIP Club featured the same success, hitting all our bets except the Bulls spread line. The result was another remarkable day of profit, continuing our hot streak to start the NBA basketball season. Today’s featured pick is between two struggling Western Conference squads: the Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz.

The Los Angeles Lakers started the preseason and regular season on an unthinkable losing streak, but rebounded nicely to crush a horrible Detroit Pistons team in their latest game. Perhaps they were able to cast out their demons by finally breaking the pressure of a winless start. This is a team with deeply rooted issues that aren’t going to suddenly go away, but the Lakers are one of the most talented teams in the NBA.

Suffering from a similar start to the season, the Utah Jazz continued last year’s road struggles to open the year. Returning home, they should be more comfortable and play much better. Considering the Lakers’ only win this year came against the lowly Pistons, these are two equally futile teams so far.

Z-Code surprisingly likes the Utah Jazz to both win and cover the spread at home with a relatively weak signal. Given the struggles of the Lakers and their horrible start, it’s understandable that Z-Code sees value in the Jazz, particularly given how successful they tend to be at home. The pick has three star confidence, with a 59% chance for a Jazz moneyline victory.

That said, I like the Lakers. When parameters (expert opinion and Z-Code tools) conflict, it’s a good bet to simply stay away and not push a bet through a weak signal.

I don’t see value in the Jazz against the superior talent of the Lakers. Despite Steve Nash’s injury, the Lakers have a surplus of top-flight talent that the Jazz likely won’t have an answer for. Though it will take time to adjust to the new roster and the Lakers will likely continue to underachieve to some degree, it’s hard to pass on the value in the line at +150.

Personally, I’m on the Lakers with four points and a small wager on the moneyline. Z-Code likes the Jazz moneyline at home. Last time this happened we covered the spread and the moneyline hit. Either way, this is a low confidence pick with conflicting parameters, limited value, and a weak signal. It’s probably best to just stay away as the official Z-Code recommendation indicates, avoiding the big-name Lakers as they struggle.
