NFL Week One Picks Contest: New York Giants at Detroit Lions
I think the New York Giants will be much better this year. I like what they did to address offseason weaknesses, and I expect they’ll be more competitive in the playoff race if they don’t start the year 0-6 again. I love Tom Coughlin, I like the revamped running game, and I think the Giants have enough balance for Eli Manning to be effective again.
I don’t understand the Detroit Lions. Dynamic rushers, the best receiver in the game, a solid quarterback… why isn’t this team better?
To me, this game is a bit of a toss up. That’s why we’ve selected it for our contest. I do not have a strong lean, but I will say that I expect the Lions to win tonight. I don’t think the Giants have a strong enough secondary to cover Calvin Johnson, and I don’t think they will get enough of a pass rush to stop the Lions. I think Detroit got better and has too many new weapons for a mediocre team to contain them.
I’ll say 38 – 20, Lions… but my recommendation is to just stay away. If you followed this weekend we had a stellar Sunday. My advice is to count your money and wait for a better matchup, but participate in the contest for your chance at $200 in prizes.
