MLB Picks: Philadelphia Phillies at St. Louis Cardinals, ABC Progression
The St. Louis Cardinals were dealt a tough blow when Adam Wainwright went down for the year, and I think it had something to do with their lackluster performance in Game One of this four-game series. With strong pitching advantages and the lowly Philadelphia Phillies coming to St. Louis, I see a huge advantage warranting a progression.
The computer agrees, lending 4.5 stars of value to this -200 line and a strong signal for the heavy favorite.
The Cardinals are reliable, and at home it’s hard to imagine one of the weakest teams in the national league finding a way to take them down in a four-game sweep. We avoided game one because of the pitching edge the Phillies had, but now they will have to outhit the Cardinals with two of their best pitchers on the mound in the next two games. Here, specifically, Michael Wacha is off to a tremendous start and is unbeaten to open the year.
Our MLB forum is up almost seven units with an average bet size floating around half a unit. We’re hot, and we’re going to take a chance on a sharp line here because we like the matchups. We will follow a progression through the rest of the series, banking on the St. Louis Cardinals winning at least one game. I think the Cards have a chance to sweep the remaining three and I think they’ll bounce back here.
