English Premier League 2017-18: Who will be the top scorer?

Friday August 11th will see the kickoff of the English Premier League 2017-18 season. Sportsbooks around the world have been releasing futures odds for upcoming season and there are plenty of great bets to wager on.

One of the most intriguing futures bets for the English Premier League 2017-18 season is the top scorer bet. The odds for players have been calculated on past performances, form and the teams they play for. There are some great odds for players that could top the league’s goals chart. So,who are the top players to look out for this season?

Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) – 3/1

Harry Kane topped the Premier League with 29 goals as season ago. The year prior he took home the award as well as he tallied 25 goals. Kane is a natural goal scorer, but Tottenham has had a poor offseason. So far, the team has made no significant new signings and don’t look any better than last year. In fact, Tottenham has lost players and will probably lose more. Topping the charts for a third season seems a bit unlikely right now.

Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United) – 4/1

Romelu Lukaku finished last season with 25 goals, second to Kane, in the final goal scoring chart. The big, powerful striker has just sealed a mega-money move to Manchester United and should benefit from playing with better players than in years past. The team will be reliant on him to get the goals this season if it wants to challenge for the English Premier League 2017-18 title. His preseason play has already shown he is a strong contender to knock off Kane this year.

Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) – 13/2

It just didn’t go Sergio Aguero’s way last season, but he still tallied 20 Premier League goals. Although reports have linked him with a move away from Manchester City, it looks more likely that he will stay this season with the club. Aguero is a solid performer, but he is often injured and seems to have fallen on the wrong side of his manager Pep Guardiola recently.

Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City) – 9/1

Gabriel Jesus took the league by storm last season, and he only played the second half of the term. He scored seven goals in 11 matches, returning a great strike rate. Guardiola is thought to prefer Jesus over Aguero, which could see him get more time on the field. However, Jesus is untested in the Premier League and is yet to play a full season. Can he carry Manchester City as its leading scorer? That’s the big question.

Alvaro Morata (Chelsea) – 10/1

Alvaro Morata has just arrived at Chelsea after spending last season with Real Madrid. Like Jesus, Morata is untested and has spent much of his career so far as second choice to other strikers. He now gets his chance to be the main man, but will he be able to score goals when he is the focal point of a team’s attack?

Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) – 12/1

Alexandre Lacazette has arrived in London with a big reputation for scoring goals. Last year saw the the Frenchman score 37 times in 45 matches for France’s Lyon. He will be a big factor in whether Arsenal can return to the Champions League or not. If he stays fit, Lacazette could top the English Premier League 2017-18 goal scoring chart.

Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal) – 14/1

Alexis Sanchez finished third in goals last year, and for a time looked likely of topping the scoring charts. The Chilean had a career year, but this summer has seen nothing but speculation of him moving to another team. If he leaves Arsenal, he is expected to sign with Manchester City. Whether he moves or doesn’t, Sanchez repeating his feats of last season are unlikely. Only once has he ever scored more than 20 goals in a league term. Of course, that was last year.

The wait for the English Premier League 2017-18 season. With the preseason friendlies coming to an end, competitive soccer is about to kickoff for the next 10 months.
