Ah, the dreaded conflicting parameters signal, which we’ve learned means that it’s best to stay away from!

The Z-Code algorithm gives 4 1/2 stars of value in the Washington Capitals line, but also predicts in another parameter that the Tampa Bay Lightning are 2:1 favorites to win tonight. When the computer picks up different trends and analyzes two different outcomes, it’s best to run away… usually.

I, as always, betting every game like I do, will have some fun with this one.

NHL Power Rankings: Chicago Blackhawks Running Away from the Pack

With only one game of hockey, we thought it was a good time to feature our NHL power rankings by Mark. We’re on the Ducks in that game, but still waiting for Z-Code analysis to confirm our pick.

1. Chicago Blackhawks – At 9-0-2, this team looks unstoppable. How can they not be #1?

2. Pittsburgh Penguins – The Pens are the best team in the East and have the most weapons. How will they blow a Stanley Cup run this year?

3. New Jersey Devils – Save for one game, the Devils are on fire. With cleaner play, this is one of the best teams in hockey.

4. Boston Bruins – Tim Thomas just got traded to the New York Islanders, but it’s Rask’s team now.

5. Anaheim Ducks – Both goalies are playing well, but this offense is out of this world.

6. San Jose Sharks – After a hot start, the Sharks have fallen off a bit lately.  ...

I don’t like the Coyotes anymore. It’s a personal vendetta and I admit it openly. I rode them last year to incredible profits, but I’ve chosen to cut ties with them. I hate the Phoenix Coyotes.

Another personal choice is betting for the Devils every game. It won despite no Z-Code support yesterday, so if you don’t trust me and my angst, let that be proof that it does work at least once in a while.

The Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals are both off to disappointing starts. While the Caps have big nameslike Ovechkin, Ribiero, Green, and Backstrum, their goaltending has let them down immensely. The Flyers struggles have not stemmed from goaltending, but rather inconsistent play.

I give the goaltending edge to Philly, and thus the edge int this game. Washington will be tired and are on a back to back while the Flyers are fresh.  The Caps are home, so the  ...

The Dallas Stars finally get Jamie Benn back after long negotiations with their top-line center. Jaromir Jagr is probable, and the Stars offense could be in full force here for the first time all year.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are not as bad as they were last year and won’t be as fun to bet against each night. Bobrovsky can beat anyone and is strong in net, while the defense got deeper and the offense has some nice pieces playing their roles early. They can compete here.
