NHL Picks: Carolina Hurricanes at Washington Capitals

NHL Picks: Carolina Hurricanes at Washington Capitals The Washington Capitals are coming back from a long road trip out west that visibly wore them down. After a couple of porous games and blowout losses, the Caps returned home and had a couple days of rest. I think they will be recharged and talent will show through against a very mediocre Carolina Hurricanes team with nothing to play for but a draft seed.

This is something of a rivalry game for divisional foes, but the Washington Capitals have been the much better team this year. The Canes do not match up  ...

2016 March Madness Predictions: Kansas, UNC, UVA, Duke?

2016 March Madness: Duke, Kansas, UVA, UNC Final Four I think some of the best matchups were missed this year by a committee that made some very interesting regions and top seeds. That said, nobody in the field is overwhelmingly strong this year. As such, I think senior leadership and knowing how to win will be important – as always. Here are our 2016 March Madness predictions.

South Region

I like UConn in my 8 v 9 matchup, but otherwise I’m all chalk here. I’m not sure how Villanova and Philadelphia are a southern team, but it makes for an  ...

2015-16 MLB Preseason Predictions: AL West Picks – Astros Rangers

2015-16 MLB Predictions: AL West Picks – Astros, Rangers, Angels I really am starting to like the Houston Astros, and nothing makes me happier than watching Jesus Montero tank and Robinson Cano complain about how great it was to be the second baseman for the New York Yankees. Watching the Seattle Mariners crumble is a great joy. So far, I’ve liked how the AL West has shaken out in recent years. Heck, even with the Texas Rangers finally driving out their cracked our manager that cost them a World Series win, all the teams in this division seem to be doing  ...

NHL Picks: Buffalo Sabres at Montreal Canadiens

NHL Picks: Buffalo Sabres at Montreal Canadiens The Buffalo Sabres have been better lately. Simply put, they are not the pushover that they were in the beginning of the season. That said, neither are the Montreal Canadiens, but probably not for the better. Still, the Habs have been winning games lately and look like the team we thought they would be when Carey Price was healthy.

I trust the Montreal Canadiens again. The Habs have lost a bunch of games lately, but they were very competitive out west and lost those games to great teams during a tough stretch of  ...

NBA Picks: Utah Jazz at Golden State Warriors, Rockets 76ers

NBA Picks: Utah Jazz at Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets at Philadelphia 76ers We don’t usually post NBA Picks, but I’ve had some requests lately and it’s been a while. We don’t usually post parlays, but when I look at today’s slate of NBA games, the value is undeniable and this appears to be the only course of action for an NBA feature. To me, the Golden State Warriors at home right now (against a bad team) are gold. You’re basically just lowering the cost of the first line in the tandem. With that considered, I thought it would be  ...

NHL Picks: Nashville predators at Winnipeg Jets

NHL Picks: Nashville Predators at Winnipeg Jets The Nashville Predators are one of the streakiest teams in hockey. They are again on a fantastic run, anchored in excellent goaltending in defense but finally scoring enough to be a viable Cup contender. 19 goals in their last four games and 25 in their last six show that this team can score in bunches. Lucky for them, the Winnipeg Jets give up goals in bunches.

Moreover, the Winnipeg Jets are also a streaky team. The Jets just dealt their best player to a playoff contender and are in rebuilding mode. Winnipeg gives  ...

2015-16 MLB Preseason Picks: AL Central Predictions – Royals, Tigers

2015-16 MLB Predictions: AL Central Picks – Royals, Tigers, Twins It’s easy to ignore the chaos that consumed the AL Central last year and look only at the Kansas City Royals and their success. The Royals were projected by many, myself included, to take a step back last year. They did not. More surprisingly, the Minnesota Twins finished above .500, the Detroit Tigers tanked, and the full mediocrity of this division was absolutely astonishing. This year, who will emerge?

1. Kansas City Royals (90-72): It’s hard to put your finger on the Kansas City Royals. They have serviceable, young pitching  ...

Free NHL Picks Contest: Philadelphia Flyers at Florida Panthers

NHL Picks Contest: Philadelphia Flyers at Florida Panthers

Saturday, March 12th

Well, I’ve got a two game lead so I took to the public to let you guys choose the game that I would beat you all with. After three submissions, I picked the game that was the furthest out to let everyone have a chance to put their picks in. The result is the Philadelphia Flyers at the Florida Panthers being what I hope will be the decisive selection.

The Florida Panthers have been slumping lately and are staggering down the stretch, while the Philadelphia Flyers find  ...
