There is no big secret to this. In the beggining of the contest I didn’t imagine being that good, but I follow NBA daily for the last few years, so looks like that paid off now.

My favourite sports to watch are basketball (especially NBA), soccer, and the last few years also american football.
I often play basketball and soccer with my friends, I also trained basketball for quite some years.

My suggestion would be to check how the teams played the last few games, check daily if there are any players injured. Every day I check all the spreads from all the games, and chose the one that I think is the safest due to the things I mentioned.
4. What mistakes you try to avoid? Not betting road teams? Any
suggestions to newbies?
I think one of the biggest mistakes at this type of contest is not being patient. At the beginning I betted every day, even if I wasn’t 100% sure in my pick. That costed me 2 losses in a row, and after that if I didn’t like any of the spreads on a particular day, I rather skipped that day than to put my win streak at a bigger risk.
And about the home teams, I like to bet on the best teams when they play at home (Miami, OKC, San Antionio), especially after they lost a game or even 2 in a row, because I know they will be all pumped up to bounce back in front of the home crowd.
