MLB Picks: Cincinnati Reds at Chicago Cubs – AB Doubler
I like the Chicago Cubs this year. I think they have some dominant pitching at the top of the rotation and they look to have their lineup solidified. I expect them to be much better this season than last year and make the leap to being a competitive franchise.
I don’t like the Reds this season. I expect them to be sellers at the deadline and don’t think they will compete. I don’t think the lineup has enough depth and I don’t think they improved from last season. The rotation is equally top-heavy, but the match ups don’t favor them here.
I like the pitching advantage that shakes out in the first two games here. Jon Lester is vastly superior to Mike Leake, and Jake Arrieta offer some insurance for an AB doubler progression. With a pitching edge to the home team, which I think is the better team, and some value in the line – I think we can move forward with confidence and do a small progression here. I don’t trust Travis Wood in a C bet, so this is just an AB doubler.
