This year’s spreads for the first round of the NFL playoffs were fairly unfriendly. Las Vegas was extremely sharp with their lines despite the struggles of home favorites down the stretch of the regular season. Still, through the Z-Code VIP Club we were able to finish 3-1 against the spread on Wild Card weekend. In fact, if Robert Griffin III stayed healthy or if Mike Shannahan knew when to pull his injured quarterback, I believe the Washington Redskins would have prevailed as well. No matter, we’re up big and we’re moving forward.

Cincinnati Bengals at Houston Texans
Prediction: Texans 28 – Cincy 24
We almost got this one exactly right. The Houston Texans held on and covered the spread for us by winning by six. Our 3 point safety suggestion came through easily. Though the Texans are nowhere near as strong as they were a month ago, they were enough for the Bengals on the road.
Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens
Prediction: Ravens 23 – Colts 14
We were right on with this one. We nearly got the Ravens total exactly right, and the pace of the game was exactly what we expected. The Ravens are struggling, but the Colts and their rookie quarterback had the odds against them this week. In the end, a motivated Ray Lewis and Ravens defense controlled this one despite a few Ray Rice fumbles.
Seattle Seahawks at Washington Redskins
Redskins 20 – Seahawks 21
I thought the Redskins could cover at home, but we got the moneyline right. Seattle capitalized on a few bad snaps and an injury to Robert Griffin III. The Seahawks continue to be one of the weaker road teams in football, but they recovered in time to win in the first round. Next week against the Atlanta Falcons, one of football’s best home teams, the Seahawks have their work cut out for them.
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers
Packers 35 – Vikings 21
We got the margin correct and benefited from a Christian Ponder injury. This game, as predicted, was never really close.
Let’s hope for similar success next round as the playoffs continue!
